I'm Missing You Tonight

I thought I heard you say my name.
I'm sure I caught the scent of your aftershave.
I thought I heard you softly telling me,
"Don't cry for me honey, you have to be brave."

I woke up and thought you were here.
I listened to see if you were still sleeping.
I thought I heard you softly say to me,
"Thanks for holding onto the memories you're keeping."

I saw a red semi pass here today and I cried.
My heart skipped a beat as I thought of you.
Honey, do you hear me when I talk to you?
It's the only thing that pulls me through.

I'm missing you tonight as I always do.
I'm missing the laughter and your touch.
I never would have believed a few years ago,
That I could ever love someone so much.

I thought I heard you say my name.
I'm sure I caught your shadow in the falling rain.
I know that you still watch over me,
That you never meant to leave me in such pain.

I woke up and thought you were here,
Sleeping peacefully beside of me where you belong.
I felt your presence when you said to me,
"Honey, it's time for you to move on."

So I'll go on with life for both of us now.
I'll see things and do things that we wanted to do.
I'll make a life for myself and I'll smile,
And honey, I'll always remember and love you!
