PLEASE RELEASE ME! Including: Fear and trembling

Reports Poet X of PDX: "Things that sound similar but are otherwise unrelated must occupy adjacent cells in the brain.

"I'm supposed to be getting an e-mail notice whenever eBay posts new items related to 'Spit in the Ocean,' a literary journal begun by Ken Kesey which recently published its seventh and final edition. I'm interested in the availability of the first six issues.

"Instead I'm getting an earworm to the tune of 'Walk on the Ocean,' a song by Toad the Wet Sprocket, popular about a decade ago. The song is on one of three homemade CDs I downloaded from the Internet back then, when I was working at a place where we had that technology. It was still pretty new, and the ethical and legal debate of such activity had yet to arise. Now I'm agog with fear, waiting for the feds (or Toad the Wet Sprocket) to appear at my door one of these days, expecting restitution."
