Writes AdDog of St. Paul: "Two things to gripe about:
"1. Twice in the last couple weeks, I have been at events where our National Anthem, 'The Star-Spangled Banner,' has been sung at the beginning of the festivities. Both of these times, the singer voiced incorrect lyrics by singing 'whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous night….' The last phrase of this line is 'through the perilous fight.' Vocalists, if you are hired to sing for several thousand people, it would be best if you study the lyrics to your song!
"2. A new breed of annoyance: the clear pop-up ad. This is when you go to a Web page and an ad pops up on the same page showing circles or animated text. If you click on what you think is the underlying article that you want to read, it selects the ad — since you are within the box defined by it.
"For an example, go to … oh, I don't know … Bulletin Board's Web page?"
The highfalutin displeasures
Poet X of PDX: "High-tech irritations, new winner, supplanting the person who first sent spam with a message disguised as a response: pop-ups (Bulletin Board page has one, the first I've seen) that, rather than stay at the top of the page, are semi-translucent and float over the text that you want to be reading.
"What next? Pop-ups at traffic lights?
"I'm sorry I articulated that!"
