by Ian Young

about the author: Ian Young edited two anthologies of gay poetry ("The Male Muse" and "Son of the Male Muse") that appeared before the debut of the Review so, of course, I was - we all were - impressed when he submitted poetry for our second issue of Volume One. I took a bit of heat for wanting this in. It was the initial shot in the "local versus outside writers" argument we debated for years to come. I simply thought it a splendid poem. (I had no problem with including writers outside of the writers group and outside of the "region" [upper Midwest]. Paul Emond especially was one who argued for regional writers only.) -gcb
