Owner's Name: Ian Chapman Lives In: Shawnigan Lake, British Columbia (Canada) Pace Car Vin #: ??? Engine/Transmission: V-8/manual This 79 pace car is one of 405 that were imported into Canada, and of those one of only 185 of the Canadian cars that was assembled at the San Jose plant. Options on this car include premium sound (AM/FM cassette), tilt steering wheel with the 3-spoke sport wheel. No A/C, cruise control or power options. It was originally bought at a Vancouver, B.C. dealership, and has always "lived" on the West Coast. It has 106,000 kilometers on it (about 67,000 miles) and has undergone a mild restoration to bring it to show quality. As far as I can trace I am the 5th owner of this car. The car has also been wired to run pace lights on the roof, and has been used to pace races at local oval tracks in the past. I also have an original 79 Pace Car jacket and a number of other pace car memorabilia items that I show with the car at different events. The next step is to complete the restoration by completely detailing the undercarriage and suspension. I hope that have that completed by spring 2000. I do drive the car during the summer months, but it stays inside when it rains and is stored in a garage through the winter, which is when I get most of the work done on the car.
