Generally Electric - Superscope

Label:Citadel Records
Released:1995
Tracks:Home & Away
Replacement
Windmill
Dead
Cow
Constipate

Rating: 3/5

Superscope’s debut CDEP, Generally Electric, rises above average indie pop thanks to a some great songs, a strong guitar presence and appropriate production courtesy of pop maestro Dom Mariani. The opening track Home And Away (about cricket and not the TV program thankfully) is the best song here while Replacement and Windmill are also strong cuts. Kevin Borruso’s guitar playing and singing is impressive throughout and matched with some strong songs is what makes Superscope stand out from the crowd. This is perhaps most evident in the song Dead, which after a slow start, builds to a dramatic climax. The last two songs, Cow and Constipate, don’t hold my interest for very long and really are throwaway tracks compared to the opening four songs. However, despite this, Generally Electric is an excellent debut and worth hunting down for lovers of Perth pop music.
