The Pyramidiacs have just finished recording their new album, Nobody's Fools, which is due to be released at the end of February by Spain’s Rock Indiana Records. To coincide with the albums release, the band will be touring Spain between April 19th to May 6th. Coming along for the ride are another Sydney power pop band, The Scruffs, who have just finished their debut album (which also happens to be produced by Michael Carpenter) titled The Actual Size. The Scruffs of course features members/ex-memebers of such bands as The Orange Humble Band, Challenger 7, Hammerfish and Eva Trout.

Close friends of The Pyramidiacs, The Finkers, have just released a split 7" on the French label, Arseplot, which features their track, Stacy Cut The Crap. Out in March on Madrid’s Go Now! Records will be a special double vinyl gatefold european edition of the first 2 Finkers albums! And in may The Finkers tour Europe, visiting Spain, France, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Sweden & Norway!!

The Stoneage Hearts, featuring The Finkers’ Mickster along with Danny from p76, will be recording their debut album in March....Expect more power pop in a Real Kids/Infidels vein!

While Hopefulness continues to get good reviews, Michael Carpenter has managed to find time (in between producing) to record a few songs for several upcoming tribute records. The latest is For Love Is Like A Bullet for a tribute album for The Shoes. Of course he’ll be touring through Spain with The Pyramidiacs in late April, and then through the rest of Europe with The Finkers in May.

The Icecream Hands are going in to the studio this weekend (24/25 Feb) to record what will be their new single, Rain Hail Shine, which will see Chuck filling the producers shoes. Their next album is tentatively due out in second half of the year.

Jack And The Beanstalk’s second album will be called Cowboys In Sweden and will be released in May by the American independent pop label, Parasol Records.

The Killer Klowns have returned to a 4 piece with the addition of ex Beggars Court frontman Paul O'Neill. Having done 3 shows already The Killer Klowns are hitting top gear with their latest gig supporting The Hard Ons going extremely well. There is also a rumour that Ashley from The Panadolls and Brother Brick will be producing their first album.

As mentioned previously, Asteroid B-612’s new album, Reading Between The Lines, is now available thru Headmiles Records and all GOOD record stores, although the release of the vinyl (with extra tracks) has been delayed. The record has been getting a strong response from America and there are plans afoot for the band to tour as well as release the album over there. The band are also keen for someone to release the record in Europe so they can look at touring there as well.

Sheek the Shayk have a new 7 inch EP out in the next few weeks, featuring the tracks Just A Chick, Love Kills (Radio Birdman cover) and Dr Death. Limited to 350 copies on gold vinyl with cover artwork by Warwick Gilbert.

Jed Whitey have officially launched their second EP, Superfly Bigmuff (Superfuzz Bigmac), which is available on both CD and a limited edition 12 inch vinyl pressing.

The M-16s are new high-energy rock ‘n’ roll band from Perth featuring the talents of Ken ‘Killer’ Watt (formerly of Valvolux and Asteroid B-612) and Brad Cleary (Superscope). The band will be self releasing their debut 7 inch around April/May featuring the tracks Take It b/w Smashing Atoms. You can currently download Take It from MP3.com http://www.mp3.com/M-16s

Copies of the new New Christs 7" single, Groovy Times b/w On Top Of Me, (Munster Records) should be available here in the coming months through Crankinhaus Records. For a sneak preview, visit the I-94 Bar, where you can download the b-side. The band are also hoping to have their next album finished by April, in time for a July release. Plans are also afoot for a New Christs European/US tour in Sept/Oct 2001, with the Hydromatics supporting on the European dates.

I thought it would never happen but it seems that Radio Birdman will be releasing authorised live material. This coincides with the release through Sub-pop Records of a single best-of compilation, featuring tracks from the band’s only albums, Radios Appear and Living Eyes as well as a couple of live tracks. The band are also in preliminary discussions with Sundazed Records to explore the possibility of high quality vinyl reissues of Radios Appear and Living Eyes.
