Pop On Top #14 June 2001

Michael Carpenter has just returned from a successful tour of Europe with two of his bands , The Pyramidiacs and The Finkers, with some good news... Laughing Outlaw Records, a small Australian label, will be releasing Michael Carpenter's recordings here in Australia, starting with a compilation of his first two albums, Baby and Hopefulness, which should see the light of day sometime around August/September. He has recorded a song for a forthcoming Jeff Lynne/ELO tribute record along with a track for a Paul McCartney tribute album, that will be out in September. Keep an eye out for those. Also, Michael has less than 100 copies SOOP #1 left, so if you don't have one you better get in fast. There are also some new mp3s for you to download at his webpage; two acoustic songs from Spanish radio, the original version of Thinking About You, plus 2 artists he has produced recently (Roger The Engineer and Soap Star Joe). Finally, he has started demoing songs for his next album, which he will start recording in July. Hopefully a new album will be out by early next year.

Pitshark Records are another French label supporting Australian rock n roll. They have already released a limited 7" EP by Cantankerous, who are The Seminal Rats minus Mick Weber, who tragically passed away several years ago. They are also planning a posthumous release by the Yesmen. For more information. visit the Pitshark Records webpage.
