This is more like it. Superfly Bigmuff, the band’s second release, is a quantum leap forward from their first EP Alrighty! This is big, loud and in-your-face rock and roll with suitably tongue-in-cheek lyrics and huge guitars. Jed Whitey have dropped any pretence of being a stoner rock band and, to my ears at least, sound more like Electric Frankenstein and early Turbonegro than Fu Manchu. One can also infer a hip-hop influence in the vocal arrangements of I’m Retarded and Will You Be My Friend. However, the strength of this record is that when they sing Rock And Roll Saved My Life, they sound like they mean it.
