Too High For Society - The High Society

Label:Crankinhaus Records
Released:2000
Tracks:Come Down
Down You Go
What I Want
Out To The Streets
Rating:3/5

The High Society have been together long enough to make a name for themselves on the live Sydney scene and while Too High For Society doesn’t represent their first release, it is consequently their most important. Its four songs represent your fairly typical Australian punk-rock sound without adding much. The lead track, Come Down, is the strongest with its rama lama fa-fa-fa feel, not unlike Bored! or early Asteroid B-612 (minus the same intensity) while What I Want has more of a garage feel, which probably has more to do with the recording. In short, Too High For Society is good but just lacks anything that really stands out. I can’t help but feel that the band would be better off, at least on record, with another guitarist to help fill out their sound.
