Although this is still uncertain, some of the most state-of-the-art movie houses may be receiving a copy of TPM (The Phantom Menace) as early as Tuesday, May 18. The rest of the nation will get to see TPM starting May 21. Lucasfilm surprised everyone by releasing TPM trailer early in about 200 select state-of-the-art theaters around the country. This leads some to speculate that Lucasfilm will do the same type of early release with TPM . . .

If you got to see the trailer earlier than everybody, then consider yourself lucky because you may also be getting a print of TPM early for your local theater . . . By early May, starwars.com will post a list of all the theaters that will be receiving TPM so that you will be able to know where it will be playing in your area. Lucasfilm is limiting TPM to only the best theaters. However, there aren't enough digital theaters for Lucasfilm to limit TPM only to digital theaters so don't worry. The theater that ran the special editions in your area will most likely be the theater that gets a copy of TPM . . . (Source: Spylord)
