What are the most impressive CG (computer generated) sequences in TPM?

The most stunning and innovative FX sequence will definately be the main 20-minute battle sequence . . . The most remarkable CG work is the seamless integration of life-like artificial creatures into the film with human actors. For the first time, we are going to be able to reproduce photo-realistic hair in a movie. These CG creatures look absolutely life like and will amaze the audience.

Why is it so difficult to generate hair with CG effects?

Reproducing synthetic hair so that it looks absolutely life like is incredibly difficult because of the multitude of lighting problems and getting the CG hair to look real when it is moved by wind and other such things. We've made monumental steps forward with CG hair, skin and even clothes for this film. The CG creatures in TPM are 1,000 times better than the CG Jabba that was briefly seen in Star Wars: Special Edition

Do we get to see an epic water battle in the prequels?

Some sequences in TPM do occur in a water environment. However, George is not going to use water as a full-scale battle environment in this film. Perhaps, he will use a water environment for a spectacular battle in one of the other prequel films.

This is the longest post-production in the history of ILM. How are all the ILMers holding up?

Fairly well. Every now and then we all need to take a break from the incredible work we are doing. There is only so many hours a week that we can work on this film. The advancements we are making in CG technology are what keeps everyone at a fever pitch. We can't wait to show off some of our incredible work in TPM trailer.

Will you watch the trailer with the fans when it comes out November 20?

Most definately. It has been over 15 years since the fans have seen a trailer for a new Star Wars film. I wouldn't miss seeing the trailer with the fans for anything in the world. It should be an amazing experience. TPM trailer is going to be better than the film it is attached to. Many fans will probably leave the theater once TPM trailer has been shown so that they can talk about it amongst themselves for many hours on end. It will not disappoint. It will be the greatest movie experience of 1998!
