Thirty two years prior to the events seen in Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope, Queen Amidala (the future wife of Anakin Skywalker and mother of Luke and Leia Skywalker) lives on a peaceful world called Naboo. A large armada of nefarious Nimoudian battle cruisers are on the brink of conquering Naboo. As a result, two Jedi Knights (Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi), disguised as Republic Ambassadors are sent to bring peace between the Nimoudians and Naboo. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan's efforts to bring peace fail and they seek safety from the Nimoudians in the swamps of Naboo. In the swamps, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan pick up a sidekick called Jar Jar Binks.

Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan and Jar Jar make their way to the capital of Naboo, which is a beautiful city called Theed. Qui-Gon with the help of Captain Panaka, R2-D2 and Ric Olie manage to rescue Queen Amidala from the Nimoudian invasion of Naboo. Obi-Wan suggests that they land on Tatooine to prepare for their journey to the Republic homeworld of Coruscant.

On Tatooine, Qui-Gon meets a young boy named Anakin Skywalker, who is ususally strong in the Force. Anakin wins Jabba the Hutt's pod race and uses his winnings to buy his freedom from slavery and to help repair the ship Qui-Gon and the rest used to get to Tatooine. Seeking his destiny, Anakin tearfully leaves his mother for adventure on Coruscant.

On Coruscant, Queen Amidala and Senator Palpatine manage to convince the Republic Senate to back a resolution to save Naboo from the Nimoudian invasion. Meanwhile, Qui-Gon introduces Anakin to the Jedi Council. The Jedi Council refuses Qui-Gon's request to have Anakin trained in the ways of the Jedi.

Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Amidala, Anakin and the rest of the good guys then head for Naboo in order to free it from the Nimoudians. During the fighting, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan successfully defeat Darth Maul during a light saber duel. And the good guys defeat the Nimoudians in a battle that occurs both on the ground and in space. The movie ends with a triumphant celebration . . .

No one knows for certain how close this summary will mirror the actual Phantom Menace movie.
