Fall / Autumn

"Autumn, the season between summer and winter, has characteristics of both of these seasons. In the Northern Hemisphere autum begins in September, marked by hot days and cool nights. By the end of fall it becomes colder and frosts at night. Pre-winter storms may occur. With this change in weather, activities of people and animals change in preparation for the winter months ahead."
Since I am a teacher from Texas I have included this topic in October. September here is still like summer.
"As the weather turns colder, plants also prepare for a dormant period. The sap stops flowing through the trees and stays in the roots. Each leaf's food supply is then depleted, causing the green color to fade and the colors of the other materials in the leaves to appear. The red, yellow, orange and brown leaves then fall. Autumn is also called fall because of these falling leaves, which is the most outstanding characteristic of the season."

I hope that you have fun with this unit!
