The association was established in 1984 . Monthly meetings of the executive committee are held at the Center for Earth Systems at Kean University in Union , New Jersey. Representing earth science teachers statewide, the purpose of the organization is the promotion, improvement and coordination of Earth Science education at all educational levels.
