Acropolis

    Athens was built upon a huge flat-topped, rocky hill. The hill only covered about
10 acres. The hill was then called Acropolis. Acropolis means, high(Akro) city(polis). 
Throughout the years Athenians built temples and buildings Eventually no one lived on 
Acropolis. 
	Athens was the center of the Athenian state, it was the religious and the military
center as well.The most famous of all the Acropolis's in Greece was that of Athens.
The main period of building on Acropolis was during the Golden Age(about 480 to 406 
B.C.)
