The band formed
in 1997 and recorded some 50 songs in less than
24 hours in 4 different locations - Andy's porch
and shed, Mitch's garage, and, at the
infamous
Vulcan Studio in Oakland,
CA.
Friends also contributed to the monkey
sound:
Adonis Cruz (vocals, guitar, keyboards) during the Shed recordings. Hector (electric
bass, fiddle bass, synthethizer) Pablo and
Aristotle Jackson (drums) at the Vulcan
sessions.
The following samples are from the band's first album:
Andy and Mitch and Fritz, too - "Greatest Hits"
Their second Lp - "Greatest Hits, Volume 2"
And, from the now out of print double disc set:
Hank and the Dankmeyers - "Anthology"
The band is currently recording:
"Johnny and The Medical Marijuana Monkey"

THE SHED RECORDINGS
With Mitch convalescing in a sanitarium in San Francisco, the band held auditions for his temporary replacement. "We must have had hundreds, maybe thousands, of people try out for just the one spot," said Andy,
"We even ran out of applications and #2 pencils."
The band chose Adonis Cruz, former vocalist with the band "Chocolate Happy Pants," because, as Andy states,
"Hey, he likes monkeys and he's a minority!"
The song "Cotton Candy Andy" is considered one of the most fascinating songs recorded this decade.
