Hank and the Dankmeyers, formerly Andy and Mitch and Fritz too, is the collective genius of Scott Bentley (vocals, guitar) Chris Pendergraft (vocals, guitar) and Scott Hall (keyboards, vocals)

The band formed in 1997 and recorded some 50 songs in less than 24 hours in 4 different locations - Andy's porch and shed, Mitch's garage, and, at the infamous
Vulcan Studio in Oakland, CA.

Friends also contributed to the monkey sound:
Adonis Cruz (vocals, guitar, keyboards) during the Shed recordings. Hector (electric bass, fiddle bass, synthethizer) Pablo and Aristotle Jackson (drums) at the Vulcan sessions.

The following samples are from the band's first album:
Andy and Mitch and Fritz, too - "Greatest Hits"
Their second Lp - "Greatest Hits, Volume 2"
And, from the now out of print double disc set:
Hank and the Dankmeyers - "Anthology"
The band is currently recording:
"Johnny and The Medical Marijuana Monkey"

THE PORCH RECORDINGS
The following songs were recorded on Andy's front porch Sunday March 26th 1997 using only a small cassette recorder with a built in mic. Founding members,
Andy and Mitch, shared the only guitar.
Considered an alternative to alternative music, It is the bands earliest work.

THE GARAGE RECORDINGS
The following night keyboardest Fritz Heidegger joined the group and the band became a trio. The following songs were recorded in Mitch's garage, again using only a small tape recorder and cheap cassette tape.
Low impedance microphones and an amplifier
were also employed.
"Looking back, I'd have to say that night of recording was our most inspired, perhaps innovative session to date. Real surreal, man, sort of like our "Sgt. Pepper" phase...whatever that means."
Andy Dankmeyer
"Was I there?"

GARAGE RECORDINGS
part two

Tuesday, the 28th, Andy and Mitch and Fritz met again in the garage and compiled their best acoustic set to date, despite Andy drinking an entire bottle of night-time over-the-counter cold medication.
Fritz's keyboards on "Monkey Resort" and
"Monkey Prom" are exceptionally provocative.
"There were a lot of people on the set that night, I remember, and lot's of drugs and alcohol.
The only thing missing, really, was a Lava lamp
and a few fluorescent wall posters."
Andy Dankmeyer

THE SHED RECORDINGS
With Mitch convalescing in a sanitarium in San Francisco, the band held auditions for his temporary replacement. "We must have had hundreds, maybe thousands, of people try out for just the one spot," said Andy,
"We even ran out of applications and #2 pencils."
The band chose Adonis Cruz, former vocalist with the band "Chocolate Happy Pants," because, as Andy states,
"Hey, he likes monkeys and he's a minority!"
The song "Cotton Candy Andy" is considered one of the most fascinating songs recorded this decade.

THE VULCAN RECORDINGS
After Mitch was released from the rehabilitation center for his addiction to licking rare toads, the boys in the band opened for the popular ska band from
San Francisco, "Missing Link."
Then, while in the Bay area, the band recorded a number of songs at the well renowned Vulcan Studios in Oakland.
"It was a trip and treat to work with session musicians and to record in hi-fi stereo. Lots of naked groupies, also.
"Pop Your Monkey" could easily be mistaken as a
Pink Floyd number, I think."
