Famous Mediums and Researchers

Medium Leonora Piper was the psychic medium about whom psychologist William James (regarded as the "father of American Psychology") said: "If you are taught that all crows are black, and you wish to destroy this belief, it is sufficient to you to present to your teachers one white crow. My only white crow is Mrs. Piper". Apparently, William James, initially skeptical about Leonora Piper's abilities, later concluded that she was somehow receiving information that could not be gotten through ordinary means.

William James was one of the founding members of the American Society for Psychical Research. (His brother, Henry, was a famous novelist who wrote stories such as "Daisy Miller").

Rosemary Brown (1916-2001) was a British medium who claimed that she was receiving musical compositions from deceased composers such as Beethoven, Liszt, Chopin, Rachmaninov, Brahms, Stravinsky and other famous musicians.

Some who listened to her play such advanced compositions were convinced that Mrs. Brown, who had very little musical training on the piano, was playing work in the manner of the composers whom she claimed were dictating the work to her.
