Guitar Lessons

Guitar lessons are once a week at the same time each week and you
should have a good idea by the end of the very first lesson how
you feel about the quality of the instruction. You should be very
pleased and excited with the lesson. I give lessons on Saturdays
and Sundays
from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Mondays
and Thursdays and
from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Lessons are pay-as-you-go, so that each time you take a lesson
you pay for it and you need not pay anything in advance. And
you may discontinue your lesssons anytime you wish.

Also, you can leave your guitar at home and use one of mine.
You don't have to bring your own guitar for the lesson. But that's
up to you.

New Location!!
Effective on February 21st 2004, I am located in Mid-Town, Manhattan,
NY, on 34th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues. It's a short walk from
the 34th Street NYC Transit Station, which is convenient to the 1, 2, 3,
B, C, E, F, V, N, Q and R trains, as well as the PATH train from Journal
Square or Hoboken terminals in New Jersey.

Though I no longer offer Guitar lessons in Jersey City, my new location
was selected to provide convenient access to current and future students
who need to travel from New Jersey for lessons. I'm located a three-block
walk from the PATH station at 33rd Street.

Lesson Plan

First we work on chord accompaniment, which would be applied
to the style of music you are interested in. Starting with the most
basic chords, we would eventually cover advanced chords in all their
inversions which we will apply to jazz tunes.

At the same time we will be working on music theory, which
as soon as possible, we would apply to improvisation. We begin
with Blues improvisation, then using the major and minor pentatonic
scales we would get into rock improvisation. Finally, this would
lead to learning the modes and applying them to jazz improvisation.

The third area that we cover will be reading music throughout
the fingerboard
, so that you would know where to find the notes
that your knowledge of music theory is telling you to play. Ear
Training
is covered as part of the introduction of each new scale
and overlaps this third phase. We then start incorporating your
ear for additional development of improvisational technique.

I use a variety of exercises to help you learn and retain the
techniques taught in the lessons.

As I mentioned before, you will know exactly how you feel about the
instruction before the end of the very first lesson.
