riot grrrl originated in the punk movement. grrrls and wimyn in the movement didn't feel like there was enuff support within the movement for wimyn so they started groups and zines and bands and started to get together. they called their new faction of the punk movement RIOT GRRRL riot grrrl is just grrrls getting together for a cause. Those grrrls are evrywhere. in college, on the streets, in high school, middle school, preps, jocks, punks, folky people, hippies, sXe, vegans and lesbians. when a grrrl wants to fight for her rights she has a little piece of riot grrrl in her. if we can put all of these scattered pieces together we could have one REAL powerful grrrl. A grrrl that will stomp out sexism, unequal pay and jobs, domestic violence, rape and the idea that wimyn are just a "pretty decoration on a man's arm." This grrrl really IS in all of us, guys 2. All we need is a little unity.
join some pro-wimyn group!!! start a group near you. put out flyers. have meetings. ANYWHERE!!! encourage grrrls to get involved!!! maybe not in riot grrrl, maybe a young feminists club or something. just get involved, its important for our future as wimyn. its not over yet...
