The 1998-1999 seaon is underway with the Pound Wildcats the favorite
to win their 2nd straight LPD title. The Cats have the top player in the
region in G-F Zack Moore to go along with a huge front line of Slade 
Potter & Jerrid Large who both check in at 6'8. Not far behind in the 
chase are the Clintwood Greenwave, led by forwards Justin Hamilton & 
Brandon Green. The Powell Valley Vikings will also be in the hunt as PV
returns center Josh Warren, PG Matt McCoy, & 2G Julius Jones in addition
to having Kelvin Davis back. The Appalachia Bulldogs are the big darkhorse
led by some outstanding transfers in Nathan Woodard, Cedric Griffey, and
6'7 German exchange student Chris Papst who came to the states as a hoops
star in Germany. The Burton Raiders will be quick as usual, and the Kelly
Indians have a very talented & tall team. Coeburn will once again field a
scrappy team & have a good inside threat in 6'4 Eric Burke. It should once
again be a great season for LPD basketball.
