Powell Valley 64 Pound 6

The Pound Wildcats took their suprising 3-0 record & LPD leading team into Bullitt Park to take on Powell Valley who was playing in their first LPD game.....reality set in as PV administered a 64-6 beating on the Cats. It started out bad for Pound and went downhill from there. On the Cat's first possession PV's Josh Callahan broke through and blocked a punt that was returned by Mike Prewitt to the Pound 5. Three plays later Julius Jones plowed in from the 2 to make it a 7-0 game with J.T.Wells PAT. After another fruitless series by Pound, Jones was at it again racing in from 49 yds out to make it 14-0. Another Pound punt resulted in a Matt McCoy 56 yd punt return for a TD to make it 21-0 still in the 1st. Early in the 2nd Pound DB Brandon Cantrell picked off a Jake Stepp pass and returned it for a TD to give the Cats their only score of the night & cut the gap to 21-6. However on the ensuing kickoff, Pound elected to kick to Jones and he quickly reminded the Pound coaches why that's not a good idea by hauling it back for a 80 yd TD to make it 28-6 at the half. It could have been worse if not for a 85 yd TD run by Jones and another long TD run by Victor Williams called back by penalties. The second half held more of the same as PV quickly turned it in to a rout by scoring 2 TD's and turning the game over to the second team halfway through the 3rd. From there Josh Callahan & Jimmy Yonce added TD's to make the final 64-6. The Viking Killer D stuffed the Pound attack which up until tonight had been avg. 33ppg. by holding them to 111 yds total offense. Pound falls to 3-1 overall & 2-1 in the LPD and will try to regroup against Hurley next week. PV moves to 4-0 overall & 1-0 in the LPD and will travel to J.I. Burton next week.
