Air Force One
Ramon:
Harrison Ford is President of the USA, and that's just one of many unbelieveable things in this movie. But if you ignore the implausible stuff, it's a pretty good flick. Plenty of action and suspense. 3 1/2 stars.

Airplane!
Ramon:
Classic comedy. Hilarious. You have to appreciate dumb jokes and sight gags, though. Don't stop the tape 'til all the credits have rolled. You'll miss more jokes. 4 stars.

Aliens 4, the Resurrection
Ramon:
Even though this movie is extremely predictable, it is still quite good. Good movie. Not the best of the series, but not the worst, either. 3 stars.

American Beauty
Ramon:
Wow. Great movie. Great acting. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll gladly kiss 8 bucks goodbye. Go see it! 4 1/2 stars.

American Pie
Ramon:
Very Funny, but no "Animal House" or "Fast Times". I really enjoyed this movie, and recommend it for anyone over 13. 3 1/2 stars.

Analyze This!
Ramon:
I didn't expect much from this one, and was pleasantly surprised. Billy Crystal is funny, but Robert Dinero steals the show! A good movie, but I'd recommend waiting for the video. 3 stars.

Animal House
Ramon:
A classic comedy. One of my all-time favorites. Worth owning. 4 1/2 stars.

Antz
Ramon:
A very good animated movie, with many celebrity voices, but "A Bug's Life" is more for kids than this one.
3 stars.

As Good As It Gets
Ramon:
A great movie! Excellent performances by Jack Nicholson, Helen Hunt and Greg Kinnear, combined with a very strong script make for a very funny, well-paced movie. 4 1/2 stars.
Rent it! Better yet, buy it!

Austin Powers
Man of Mystery
Ramon:
Hilarious! Mike Myers outdoes himself. If you liked "Wayne's World", you'll love this.
Highly recommended! 4 1/2 stars.

Austin Powers 2,
The Spy Who Shagged Me
Ramon:
Mike Myers does it again! Very silly and very funny. I liked the original a little bit more, but this is definately a worthy sequel. 4 stars. Buy it!

Birdcage, The
Ramon:
This film adaption of "Le Cage Aux Folle" starring Robin Williams is very funny.
Worth renting. 3 1/2 stars.

Blair Witch Project
Ramon:
Don't believe the hype. This movie is not scary! It's not a bad little movie, but it's nothing special. No one in the audience screamed, but there was laughter during the film, and moaning and booing at the end. 2 stars. Borrow it from a friend.

Michelle:
A funny film, if you aren't bothered with motion sickness. It was NOT scary, though. You need to know that this is fiction, pure and simple. I would recommend it, if only to talk about the movie with someone other than Ramon. We agree too much. The Yahoo message board for this movie is scary -- scary to think how many ignorant people there are out there. 3 stars.

Bound
Ramon:
I really enjoyed this movie. Lesbians and the mob - what more could you ask for? Some great cinematography, but sometimes a bit too artsy. 3 1/2 stars.

Bowfinger
Ramon:
Eddie Murphy and Steve Martin are very funny. But this movie was not as funny as you might expect. I had heard great things about this film, and was somewhat disappointed. It was an enjoyable, amusing film, with some very funny parts, but not the best work by either of these funny men. Worth renting. Glad I didn't pay $7 to see it. 3 stars.

Braveheart
Ramon:
This Mel Gibson epic was much better than I expected. It starts a bit slow, but really picks up.
Quite good, and worth renting. 4 stars.

Chicken Run
Ramon:
Great family entertainment. Very funny. If you liked Wallace and Grommit, you'll like this, although it has a bit less of an edge to it. Go see it! 3 1/2 stars.

City Of Angels
Ramon:
Nicolas Cage is an angel who falls twice. He falls in love with Meg Ryan, and then he falls from Heaven to be with her. Good romantic movie. Good story. Good acting. 3 1/2 stars.

Clerks
Ramon:
Very funny! Interesting movie. I recommend it. Decent soundtrack, too.
Rent this one for a change of pace. 3 1/2 stars.

Contact
Ramon:
Jodie Foster is very good in this movie about a woman who spends most of her life trying to make contact with aliens. A bit long, but very good. 3 1/2 stars.

Donnie Brasco
Ramon:
If you're looking for a good mobster movie, give this one a try. Very good story. Worth renting, but try to catch it on cable. 3 1/2 stars.

Distinguished Gentleman, The
Ramon:
Better than expected. Eddie Murphy as a con artist-turned-politician (is there a difference?). Pretty funny, but somewhat lacking in originality. 3 stars.

Deer Hunter, The
Ramon:
A bit dated. I liked it better when I saw it years ago. Still a good movie, but nothing great. 3 stars.

Ed Wood
Ramon:
The title character is credited with making the worst movies of all time. This, however, is a very good movie. Funny and interesting. 3 1/2 stars.

English Patient, The
Ramon:
A good movie, but not as good as I had heard. A decent romantic flick. 3 1/2 stars.

Face/Off
Ramon:
Travolta and Cage in John Woo's action flick about two guys who switch faces. Interesting. Decent movie, but can you say overkill? Too much unnecessary action. The speedboat scene was a joke.
2 1/2 stars.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Ramon:
The movie that made Sean Penn famous! This 1982 comedy is a favorite of mine. Great movie! 4 stars.

Frequency
Ramon:
A very good movie, that was pretty much over-looked. I saw it on Father's Day because it has a good Father-son story. 4 stars.

Full Monty, The
Ramon:
Not nearly as good as I had heard it was. Still, it has moments of hilarity. 3 stars.

Galaxy Quest
Ramon:
The best family movie of the year! Very funny. Great cast, action, humor, and special effects. Sigourney Weaver looks great with blond hair (and a torn shirt). 4 1/2 stars. Go see it!

Good Will Hunting
Ramon:
Very, very good. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are very good in this, and Robin Williams delivers an Oscar-winning performance. Funny, and well-written. Well worth renting. 4 stars.

Half-Baked
Ramon:
A goofy movie about three stoners. Pretty funny, especially if you're stoned when you watch it. 3 stars.

Home Grown
Ramon:
Another marijuana movie. I wasn't sure if this was supposed to be a comedy or a drama (maybe a dramedy?). Parts of it are very funny. An interesting story. Overall, a pretty good movie. 3 1/2 stars.

In and Out
Ramon:
Another over-rated movie. Funny and interesting, but not exceptionally so. 3 stars.

Independence Day
Ramon:
Great fun. Will Smith vs. the aliens. Much better than "Men In Black", or any other Will Smith movie.
Check it out! Definately worth renting. 4 stars.

L.A. Confidential
Ramon:
Very, very good. Kim Basinger looked great, and is a good actress, but I don't see why she won an Oscar for her small part in this film. Intricate story line, and good acting. 4 stars. worth renting.

Lethal Weapon 4
Ramon:
If you liked the first three, you'll like this one. Chris Rock adds even more humor to this installment, which still has it's fair share of explosions and shootouts. 3 stars.

Liar, Liar
Ramon:
Other than "The Mask" and "Truman Show", this is the only Jim Carrey movie I liked. Funny, touching at times. The bathroom scene was a bit much, though. 3 1/2 stars.

Like Water for Chocolate
Ramon:
This is a great romantic film. Humorous, sensous, very well written. Spanish with English subtitles.
4 stars. Highly recommended.

Losing Isiah
Ramon:
A very good movie with a dumb ending. But it's got Halle Berry, and it's quite good until the end . 3 1/2 stars.

Lost World, Jurrasic Park 2
Ramon:
The original was much better. The plot was predictable, and full of holes. The animation was not that impressive. 2 1/2 stars. Good for kids, maybe.

Mars Attacks
Ramon:
An all-star cast enlivens this silly sci-fi comedy, based on the 1940's trading cards. This movie cracked me up! 3 1/2 stars. Worth renting.

Mask, The
Ramon:
Based on the comic book of the same name, this is clearly Jim Carrey's funniest movie. Funny stuff. Great computer-generated effects. 3 1/2 stars.

Men In Black
Ramon:
Is it a comedy? Or an action movie? Do the producers know? I don't. Not enough comedy or action. Will Smith is much better in "Independence Day". Kids might like it, but I doubt they could follow the plot. 2 1/2 stars.

Mirror Has Two Faces, The
Ramon:
This was certainly better than I expected. I'm not a big Streisand fan. Decent flick. 3 stars.

Mr. Bean
Ramon:
Very funny, if you appreciate British humor. I do, so it gets 4 stars.

Mrs. Doubtfire
Ramon:
Very funny, touching film. One of Robin Williams' best. Definately worth renting. 4 stars.

Ramon:
Funny, entertaining. Not quite as good as I had heard, but hey... It's got Cameron Diaz in it-- that works for me! 3 1/2 stars.

Mystery Men
Ramon:
Very funny, quite entertaining. An all-star cast in a film based on the Comic Book of the same name. Being a comic book afficianado, I enjoyed it that much more. Rent it! 3 1/2 stars.

Night At The Roxie, A
Ramon:
A reasonably funny movie based on what was SNL's only funny skit for a while there. I saw it on cable, and would recommend you do the same. 3 1/2 stars.

Object Of My Affection
Ramon:
An enjoyable romantic comedy about a woman who falls in love with a gay man. 3 stars.

One True Thing
Ramon:
Great acting + great story = great movie. If you like tear-jerkers, this is the movie for you. Touching, without making you feel manipulated. 4 stars.

Opposite Of Sex
Ramon:
This movie got great reviews. Don't ask me why. It was like a very long sit-com, in desparate need of a laugh track. Lots of one-liners- some of them funny. 2 stars.

Picture Perfect
Ramon:
While this picture isn't perfect, it's not bad. Kevin Bacon and Jennifer Aniston star as unlikely lovers in this pleasing romantic comedy. 3 1/2 stars.

Pleasantville
Ramon:
Great concept, decent story. A bit disappointing. Not bad, but not as good as it could've been. 2 1/2 stars.

Pulp Fiction
Ramon:
Very good. A bit strange, but highly entertaining and well-acted. 3 stars.

Schindler's List
Ramon:
Spielberg tugging at your heartstrings. A long movie, but pretty damn good. 4 stars.

Sixth Sense
Ramon:
This is a very, very good movie. Everything about it is good. Not real scary, but certainly more so than "Blair Witch Project". Great acting and nice twist at the end. 4 stars. Go see it!

Sliding Doors
Ramon:
I caught this one on cable, and was pleasantly surprised. Finally a good concept done right. Very good movie. 3 1/2 stars. Worth renting.

Something About Mary
Ramon:
A good movie that doesn't come close to living up to the hype. "The 'Animal House' of the nineties"? I think not. But it has it's moments, and it has Cameron Diaz. 3 stars.

South Park
Bigger, Longer and Uncut
Ramon:
Absolutely hilarious. Definately not for kids, though. This animated musical is over-the-top raunchy fun. If you like the show, you should like the movie. I love both. 4 stars. Go see it!

Star Wars Episode 1
The Phantom Menace
Ramon:
I enjoyed this movie. Maybe not quite as good as the original trio, but still very good, despite George Lucas liberally borrowing from other films. A good family film, a bit "Disney-ized", in fact. 3 stars.

Stepmom
Ramon:
Touching, funny, and well-acted. Julia Roberts shines in this film. Not as depressing or quite as believable as "One True Thing", which I watched the same day, and also features a dying mom. A very good movie. 3 1/2 stars.

Tarzan
Ramon:
All ages will enjoy this animated film. Lots of humor, great animation, and catchy songs (by Phil Collins). Disney's latest masterpiece. 4 stars. Go see it!

Too Hot For TV
Jerry Springer
Ramon:
Garbage. Not even good garbage. A lot of what's on this tape is not too hot for TV. Too dumb for TV, maybe. Even if you like the show, this will disappoint you. 0 stars. Don't waste your time or money.

Toy Story 2
Ramon:
Disney and Pixar have done it again! Having watched the original the night before, I would say that this is even better. Great story, great animation. Great family film. 4 stars. Go see it!

Truman Show
Ramon:
I really liked this film, and I don't care much for Jim Carrey movies. Very well done. 3 1/2 stars.

Wag The Dog
Ramon:
After a slow start, this turns out to be an amusing, interesting movie. The media has made numerous references to this movie, so if you haven't seen it, you're "out of the loop". 3 1/2 stars.

Waiting To Exhale
Ramon:
This movie has some very good parts, which unfortunately don't add up to a great movie. It is a pretty good movie, though, and I would recommend it. Good soundtrack, too. 3 1/2 stars.

Waking Ned Divine
Ramon:
An amusing film about 2 old Irish guys who try to claim a dead man's lottery winnings. Cute. A nice little film. 3 stars.

Waterboy, The
Ramon:
If you like Adam Sandler, you'll like this movie. If you don't appreciate his brand of humor, stay away. Goofy, but I enjoyed it. 3 stars.

Wedding Singer, The
Ramon:
Even though this movie is extremely predictable, it is still quite good. The role of romantic lead is a change of pace for Adam Sandler. 3 1/2 stars.

World Is Not Enough, The
Ramon:
Bond. James Bond. Good. Pretty good. Plenty of action, lots of explosions, some humor. Pierce Brosnan is a pretty decent Bond. Denise Richards looks great in a wet T-shirt, but her acting ability is negligible. Delivers her lines very flat. Otherwise, very good movie. 3 1/2 stars. Go see it!

You've Got Mail!
Ramon:
Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan are as cute as ever in this above par romantic comedy. Not great or overly original, but very enjoyable. 3 1/2 stars.
