PreviewOnce again we must save the human race from evil aliens, but it's never been as fun as this. The story-line says that we (humans) were "planted" millenia ago by them (aliens) and now they have come to (ahem) harvest our bodies. The aliens have the ability to time travel and harvest the humans from different periods. By the time the aliens have finished (the year 2050 AD) there is hardly anyone left to eat. A small band of survivors have finished work on a time machine that they plan to use to travel back in time and destroy the aliens before they can destroy us. IGN64.com has described Body Harvest's gameplay as "3D defender meets Blast Corps, meets Grand Theft Auto, meets Lemmings, meets Zelda", this will prove quite interesting, indeed. Everything is viewed from a 3rd person "behind the shoulder" view and everything is explorable in the 3-D environment. The levels span 100 years of time, and include: Greece 1916, Java 1941, America 1966, Siberia 1991, and the Alien Homeworld 2046. The objective pretty much stays the same throughout, save the people of that time from being eaten by the aliens. To access certain areas, players must solve puzzles or fullfill objectives such as putting out fires or jumping a gorge with a motorbike. You can drive over 60 vehicles in the game, and run over pedestrians (will this have an affect on the mission, such as in Goldeneye?). Another cool thing about Body Harvest is the level of interactivity. Walk up to a torch and you can extinguish it, affecting the lighting, walk up to another torch and pull it for a switch that opens a secret door, these kind of elements make for almost infinate gameplay. Body Harvest is one of the most original games for the N64 this year. With the wonderful level of interactivity and the new-style gameplay, Body Harvest will satisfy gamers come September of 1998, the games release.
