Dinzeo places 2nd, Mason 4th, team 15th at State.
Joe Dinzeo becomes the third Bull in a row to make it to the state finals. Joe had a great State meet before losing to The Venice wrestler 5-2. Joe went out after him but was not quite able to get the job done. Joe brought his Career record to 120 wins against 23 losses. His 3rd and 2nd place finish at states Make him only the third multiple place winner at Bloomingdale. His 23 pins move him into second place on the bulls single season pin mark.

David Mason and the team struggled all season and could not quite seem to get it all to come together. David suffered from a hip injury all season the pain of which made just walking a chore he wrestled in pain all year weekly therapy and guts made it possible for him to make a try for his third title. But always just when it seemed that he was making progress another obstacle was put in his way. He suffered two concussions in the last week and could only manage 4th place. For most wrestlers this would be a great finish to a career for David it was a bitter pill. David had a great Career as a Bull leading his team (He was a three year captain) to two district and one regional title the schools first. He set new career school records for most wins, pins and takedowns. And become the only bull to have three 30+ winning seasons. He just edged out Joe for most career wins with a record of 121 and 16. David is the only 3 time State placer in school History.

The Team could not seem to find its self all season and finished a disappointing 15th at States. Saibi, Lugo, and Bartolomie went 0-2 at states while Diaz was able to record one fall. The Young guys will have to step it up next year to continue what Mason Dinzeo and the rest of the seniors started four years ago. The torch is now in your hands.

Bulls Take Third at Regions
The Bulls send six to state and take third at regions and it feels like a disappointment. This shows you how far we have come. Justin Diaz led the way and was our only Regional Champ. Justin Wrestled great and was in control every match. Joe Dinzeo walked into the finals then met Liakokous for the third time and lost 3-1 Joe says better this week than next. Derik Saibi had a great tournament with a small upset in the semi beating a very big university 275. He then made a few mistakes in the finals and placed second. Gabe Bartolomei wrestled very well and placed third winning two very close matches. David Mason did not get focused for the Semis and lost to Capaluchi from University. He also lost his temper and had to get it back together for the wrestle backs. Which he did only to look like Rocky 2 as both he and his opponent shot head to head with both of them going down David got up and was cleared to continue while his opponent was un able to go on. David was leading 3-0 at the time. Mike Lugo was a surprise as he goes to the show. Mike had to beat The Durant kid that he had lost two earlier. Hagin, Miles, and Ford were just a Match away from going and had a great year.

Bloomingdale wins districts 230.5 to 149.3
The Bulls sent 13 wrestlers on to regions and had 9 in the finials last night as they got a little measure of revenge of second place Palm Harbor. We are not yet in top form and have a little work to do before next week regionals. We could have sent 11 to the finials and won at least 10 of them. 103 Freshman Brandon Ray places 4th 112 Robert Hagin was not at his best all day but made it to the finals were he placed second to Sims who he has pinned twice this year Bobby was a little sloppy better this week than next.119 Nick Miles got behind early in both his semi and finials match but kept after it to place first in one of the toughest weight classes at the tournament. 125 David Mason had no real challenges as he toyed with his opponents notches up over 20 takedowns in 3 matches and pinning in the championship. 130 Jason Pinkerton placed second loosing to McKnight by 1,who he beat last week in the Western Conference Jason made a couple costly mistakes and needs to correct them for next week. 135 Ryan Ford had a great semi match to make it to the finials only to loose by 1.140 Ryan Pinkerton was the only Bull not making it to the next level but the JV called up Thursday showed some good stuff. 145 Gabe Bartolomei placed first and is still getting better 152 Chris Curry wrestled well then abandoned his fundamentals to place second. 160 Justin Diaz is improving ever day as he won in Overtime in the finals. 171 Scott Young had suffered a mental lapse and paid for it in the semis losing to a kid he has beat twice. Then came back to place 3rd 189 Joe Dinzeo is really looking strong as he pined a 19-2 wrestler in the first period. 215 Mike Lugo placed 3rd and will score some points next week. 275 Derek Saibi lost another 1 point match in the Semis then pined to place 3rd . All in all a good outing but we need to peek next week to defend our Region Crown. The Parents’ were heard planning some shenanigans for next weeks tournament now I know why are kids are so crazy.

The Bulls looked great sending eight to the finals and coming away with 4 champs. 103 Ray took 7th the little popcorn is going to be a great one. 112 Hagin looked great pining his way through the tourney to place first his second western conference title in a row. 119 Miles goes to the finals and places second. 125 Mason is rounding into State form and completes his regular season career with another Western Conference championship. David went through his 4-year career with out ever losing to a Brandon Wrestler. 130 Pinkerton places 3rd with a good come back. 140 Ford moves up a weight and places 3rd beating the kid who beat him in the first round. 145 Gabe places second but is getting better each match. 152 Curry after being sick all week places second. 160 Diaz is coming on strong and takes second. 171 Young wins his first championship with a pin. 189 Dinzeo wrestles his best match of the year to control and win. 215 Lugo wrestles a good match but is injured after the win. 275 Saibi Beats Durant at last. The guys are peaking at the right time and should get better each week for the next three. See ya in Lakeland. Congrats to Emch of Brandon on his 100th pin.
The Young Bulls placed 3rd at the Countryside JV match under the direction of coach Ray. All three Bulls Champs were the brothers of Varsity wrestlers. Great Job Diaz Pinkerton Young and the restof the JV.
Bloomingdale 16 Brandon 47
The Bulls were somewhat disappointed with their performance. Things started out bad and went down hill from there. Robert Hagin was Ill and could not wrestle only Mason, Curry and Young were able to win against a very strong Eagle team. The team seems ready to rededicated the season and get ready for the run to state.

Team effort puts Bulls second at the Ipp.
The Bulls got a great effort by all team members to place second this weekend. 11 Bulls placed. 103 Robert Hagin came back to place third by tech falling Gadd who had beat him in the quarters by one. Hagin is for real. 112 Nick Miles did not make weight the second day he was .2 over. Nick was heartbroken more so after the guy he lost two in double overtime lost to Latessa the tournament champ by only 1 in the Semis. 119 Nick Perone had a great debut placing fourth in his first tournament. 125 David Mason won his third Ipp Title in un Mason like fashion pulling it out with an escape at the buzzer. David was not happy with his performance but tried to do the right thing and shake the opposing coaches hand only to have him turn his back. 130 Jason Pinkerton had a tough draw but managed to place sixth. 135 Ford was in a very tough weight class and also took sixth. 140 Mendoza suffered a slight Injury Friday and it was decide to save him for Wednesday. 145 Gabe took third with a pin in the con. Finals. 152 Curry finely turn the corner and beat 2 good wrestlers one from Brandon then Allen who had beat him in the quarters. 160 Diaz goes to the finals with a couple tough matches and places second. 171 Scott Young takes third setting himself up as the best 171 pounder in the county. 189 Dinzeo is the Bulls second Champ and wins his second Ipp. Title with a last second win over Ferriro from Brandon. 215 Lugo did not place loosing a 7 point lead in the last round of wrestle backs but don’t worry he will be back. 275 Saibi places 5th with an over time loss in the last wrestle back match. We are starting to peek and things should get better over the next four weeks as a great team makes its run to States. In head to head matches with Brandon the Bulls won three and lost two.

Bloomingdale second at Ipp after first day

Dinzeo wins 100
In the quick pace of the Manatee tournament a major achievement was over looked Joe picked up is 100 win on his last match. With Mason sitting out Joe and David are now tied with 100 each. The first and second 100 match winners in school history Joe picked up his firt 20 or so wins out of state. Congrats and keep up the good work.

Bulls Fall Short
The Bulls were unable to overcome a case of the holiday blues at the Manatee Tournament. Injuries weight problems proved to be too much for the Team to overcome as the lost to Manatee 44-24 to place 2nd. However some Bulls were ready Joe Dinzeo was selected outstanding upper weight pinning his way through all five of his matches. Derek Saibi and might have given him a run for his money had he not sat out a match. Derek pined all of his opponents. Also having a great Day were Ryan Ford, Robert Hagin, Nick Miles, Jason Pinkerton. These guys are wrestling better than they ever have.

12-31-00 Mason,Wiles, Dinzeo And Diaz at Sunshine

Dinzeo takes first at Sunshine. Diaz places fifth. Full results are posted at floridakids.net

David placed 7th at the Sunshine in the open Div. I watched the tapes and he is starting to look like his old self. He beat three college kids one by pin and one injury defult. He came back from a 6-0 first period sleep to win in overtime in is other win. He lost to Chris Rodrequz from the University of Michigan 6-1 David got cought once. Chris was the number one recruit in the nation last year. He also lost to Philip Derstine But might have one had Derstine not cried out on the way to his back and stoped the match.Wiles placed second loosing 3-2. Dinzeo and Diaz are both in the semis today in the HS div. Do not know what happen to the rest of our guys will write more when I hear.

12-22-00 Wiles clinic a Big success
The Bulls had a opportunity to see what the next level was all about. Josh Wiles came to town to wrestle in the Sunshine Open and was good enough to come by and run a great 3 day clinic. Those who attended all three days learn a lot and had a little experience of what a college practice was like on the third day. Josh wrestles for Eastern Michigan where he started as a true freshman last year and is read shirting this season. The Light weight again showed way they lead this team with Ray 103, Hagin 112, Miles 119, Smith 125, Mason 130, Pinkerton 135, and Ford 140, attending all three days. Mallon 160 and Diaz 171 where the only other varsity starters to make it all three sessions. It was great to see the improvement in Josh Wiles who is only 19 but has come back to Florida a super wrestler and young man. Josh is majoring in Education and plans to coach when his college career is over.

12-15-00 Mason wins 100th match
David Mason became the first Bull in School history to win 100 matches in a career last night against Sickles. While at some school this would not be a big deal with our schedule it is a major accomplishment. David’s career record is 100 wins 13 losses. He was 22-11 as a freshman when he weighed 88 pounds at the start of the year and 94 pounds at the end. His sophomore season he was 32-2 and won his first state title at 103. His junior year he was the first undefeated bull at 36 and 0 and won his second state title at 119. This year he is 10 and 0 and on pace to win a total of 125 matches or more. Congrats David.

12-15-00 Bloomingdale 52 Sickles 21
The Bulls Defeated Sickles 52 to 21. It was really not that close. Bloomingdale was starting 4 subs in place of flue ridden and injured starters. All but one of them lost. The exception was David Young who made Sickles coaches second guess their decision to move their star Briscoe away from Bartolomie to try and get him an easy win over a JV youngster. Not only did he get pined but injured as well as the strong younger Young (brother to Scott) manhandled him. Derek Saibi took another step forward beating Henika 8-2. The Crowd got into the match seeming to feel that the ref was somewhat reluctant to call a fall for the Bulls. The team headed of to beefs for their annual Wing Fest. And all are at least 2 weight classes over dual weights and 4 over state weights.

12-9-00 Bulls Third at Mita
After a great first day in which the Bulls sent 10 to the semis the Bulls finished a disappointing 3rd missing second by only 3 points. We knew going in that this would be tough to win with three starters out and a few bad breaks made it harder. Starting at the bottom. Robert Hagin the number one seed in the tournament was wrestling well winning by 4 against a good freshman that Bob was better than early in the third period Bob was caught in a head and arm and held on his back for the period to loose by 1. Bob then came back to Place third. Nick Miles had a good day placing second in the tournament and proving to all that he could wrestle with Craig (second in the state) in the finals. At 119 Bobby Smith took a step forward placing fifth. Bobby beat Mat Dail from East Bay twice. Bobby should have finished at least 4th as during the last match of wrestle backs he was winning win he was called for an illegal slam and his opponent chose not to continue so his team could get the team points they need to move ahead of all Pinellias Teams. 125 David Mason look flat in all but his third match where he lit it up. He still took his 3rd straight Mita championship and was the Bull only Champ. At 130 Ryan Pinketon took sixth doing his best to give the team the points he could. The big heart break was at 135 where third seed Ryan ford had to take the ACT test and was unable to arrive back in time his match was declared a forfeit 6 Min. before he got there. Jason Pinkerton replacing Paul Mendoza did not place at 140. Gabe Bartalomie Placed second loosing by two in the Finals at 145. At 152 Chris Curry took fourth after a heartbreaking loss in the semis Chris was wrestling a great Match against Allen winning by three when with 15 seconds left in the match he was caught in a bear hug and pined. At 160 Patric Mallon was able to win one match as a replacement for Diaz. Scott Young placed 4th at 171 wrestling well. At 189 Joe Dinzeo took seconded but was surprised by a very quick Tuttle who was named tournament MVP. At 215 and 275 The Teams pair of over achievers Mike Lugo and And Derick Saibi placed third . Both were given up a lot of weight. Saibi should have gone to the finals he was wining his semi match when he was put on his back and pined. We placed 11 guys over all and would have placed 14 with all starters there. Manatee was more prepared on this day but we are looking forwarded to the Dual, Regionals and States.

Practice is getting wild

Yes the real season is here. You can tell by the number of guys bleading, limping, Bruized and battered. Today the Blood and Gore were all over the room along with a few body parts.Pain heals, Chicks love scars, and Glory last for ever

Bloomingdale 71 Armwood 3

Robert Hagin wrestled a well as I have seen him in his career pinning a very strong Cannon. Bobby manhandled the kid. Mason showed the Gene Mills half to perfection then was seen signing autographs for the fans. The entire team took some strides forward in their first real contest against a full line up.

11-23-2000
Bloomingdale 63 Worten 9

Another Match with a program that is having a hard time. They had No JV and only 8 Varsity Wrestlers Two Pretty good kids however. Freshman Brandon Ray gave it his all losing 11-10 Brandon was down three with 4 seconds left when he took Green to his Back but the time run out before he could be awarded any back points. Brandon learns about the danger of drinking too much Gatorade after you match. Brandon Dad has joined our coaching staff and is given Joe Dinzeo a work out. Chris Curry gave Allen a match before making a mistake and getting caught on his back. Armwood is next.

Bloomingdale 82 Leto 0

Another shining example of how big is not better. Bloomingdale 82 Leto 0. This is one of at least six matches on our schedule that should never happen. The county mandates that we have 12 duel meets and that we can only schedule them with other county teams. This forces the small 1 and 2 A schools into matches that they are clearly not up to. It does neither the better school or the smaller one any good at all. One gets sloppy and does not improve the other gets discouraged and losses kids. It is time for the powers that be to see how ridiculous this is and come up with a better system. I suggest that we be allowed to wrestle our conference (6 matches) and then be allowed to schedule the rest of our dates on a School by school basis.

11-22-2000
Bloomingdale 37 Manatee 25

Both the Bulls and Cains easily defeated 20th ranked River Ridge on way to the big show down. Manatee is one of only two or three teams in the State that may be better than our lower weights. They proved it by jumping out to a 25 to six lead up to 140 but then the Bulls upper weights came two town and only lost one match the score was tied at 25 all going into 215 Chris Huber scored a 28 second fall and Chad Saibi also Pined to give the Bull the victory. Key matchups were at 112 where Robert Hagin (5th in state at 103) met Ryan Craig (2nd in state at 112) with Craig winning 9-3 in a hard fought match. At 119 Nick Miles (state qual) met Bobby Lattesa (3rd in state at 103) With Lattesa winning 9-4.Both Bulls did some good things and look forward to the rematch. David Mason (2 time state Champ) had his hands full with Vittoret but healed on for the win on one leg. Paul Mendoza Pulled out a last second pin and Joe Dinzeo a major dec. Help lead the team to victory. It was a good stating point.
