Celine competed for another new movie theme, but lost unfortunately. "Hero", a new movie directed by the famous Chinese movie director, Zhang Yi Mou, has been slated as the next big Chinese movie that could fare similar success as "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". Lots of the industry insiders has high hope on this movie, hoping it will break new grounds for the Chinese movie industry on the International stage. The rights of releasing this movie in DVD/VCD format in China alone is alreday a record breaking figure, $17 million, higher than any domestic or foreign movie DVD/VCD rights (for releasing in China) in history. For the music part, they have invited Tan Dun, the 2001 Oscar winner for "Best original score" for his works in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", to lend his talents on this film. Therefore, many singers wanted to be chosen to sing the theme song of this movie. News came out that even Celine has also voiced her interest in singing the theme song. However, they have now confirmed that the song will be sung by Faye Wong, the Chinese Pop Queen, who was born in Beijing and now bases in Hong Kong. She recently joined the Sony Music family, and this will be her first song with Sony. Reasons why they have chosen Faye over Celine because firstly, the movie director already has Faye on his mind when the project started, and secondly, they feel it's more suitable to have a Chinese singer singing the theme song than a Causasian singer, especially since the setting of the theme takes place in the ancient time. "At Last" had a total of 12 new adds in the past week, and it had an increased plays of +183. Shania's new album was released last week and sales results for the first week are in. In the US, the album sold 874,100 copies, and in Canada it sold 150,000 copies. In other words, Celine is still the record holder for Canada's biggest first week sales with her LTAL album. The album sold 230,212 copies in its first week when it came out in 1997. In addition, ANDHC is still the album with this year's biggest first week sales in Canada. The album moved 151,600 copies in the first week in Canada, while it sold 527,000 copies south of the border. According to this article, M6's "Celine Dion A Tout Prix" special attracted 3.5 million viewers, with 19.8% shares of audience. According to this article, Rene said yesterday that as soon as Celine finishes her 3-year engagement at Caesars Palace, they will move back to Palm Beach County, and they've been shopping for lots in the northern part of the county and hope to buy one this week. He added that they want to send Rene Charles to the Benjamin School in North Palm Beach. "This is where we want to raise our children, here and Montreal," he said.

He has sold his house, having his furniture on the way to Vegas, and he'll be leaving on this Friday. On this CNN page, you can find the transcript of the interview that Celine did on "American Morning with Paula Zahn". In this interview, Celine explains what Ronald McDonald House does and how her relatives have been helped by them. On this week's Radio & Records AC chart, "Goodbye's..." has slipped off from the Top 30 already aftering debuting at #25 last week. On the other hand, "At Last" is this week's most added song to the AC stations with 13 adds, with a total of 24 stations playing the song. ANDHC remains at #9 on the chart. Apparently, having two songs being added at the same time is doing more harm than good for each of the song in terms of chart performance.

Celine gave a surprise appearance on Oprah today! The theme of today's episode is "Harpo Hook-Up", hooking some lucky people up with other important people in order for them to realize their dream. Some of the hook up that they did today includes giving few lady a tour of Oprah's penthouse (what an extraordinary house!!), helping a house-wife to have a taste of being a Rockettes dancer, give a young lady the opportunity to have internship in ABC's news network. For the Celine hook-up, it's about a wife, Sue, who've gave her husband, Scott, a surprise birthday with few special arrangement. Sue said to her husband at the party that he will never be able top this surprise that she has done for him. Since then, Scott wrote emails to Oprah everyday telling her how wonderful Sue is as a wife and as a mother, and he hope that he can have a chance to say these on the Oprah show in front of millions of viewers, to let everybody knows how great Sue is. Finally, Oprah gave him this opportunity today. After he has done this, Oprah told the couple that there is another surprise hook-up for them. Oprah knows Celine is one of Sue's favourite performers, so she hook-up with Celine (via Satellite), who is currently in Florida participating in the World Children's Day event, to announce a surprise arrangement for the couple. Celine gave them tickets to her opening-night "A New Day..." concert, and invite them to meet her up after the show in her dressing room. Oprah then told Celine to please hook her up too cuz she really wants to be there too. Oprah said she has just watched "O" over the weekend and she was so fascinated with the show, and she is already planning with her friends to get there in Vegas to watch Celine's opening night. Celine made the crowd laugh with her face expression when she said how the Franco Dragone team is making her to make those difficult body movements. As reported earlier, Celine performed TTWII, The Prayer (w/ Josh Groban) and Goodbye's (the saddest word) last night on the World Children's Day concert. With the exception of "Goodbye's..." which Celine sang in play-back, she sang all the other songs live. She sounded fabulous and the audience was a very warm crowd. They gave almost every singer a standing ovation, and some like Celine got even more than one. At the end of the night, they had a grand finale with all of the singers performing the anthem "Aren't They All Our Children". Now on rmhc.yahoo, we can listen to the audio file of this song. However, it's not taken from last night's performance, and there's no Celine in this clip. But now on Queen Celine, you can download the MP3 of last night's performance of the song! You can hear Celine hitting those money notes and being one of the main focus. On this coming Sunday (Nov 17), TVA is going to have a TV special dedicated to Marc Dupre, the husband of Rene's daughter Anne-Marie. Looks like "Goodbye's..." has already impacted the US radio stations. On R&R, it listed that "Goodbye's.." has been added to 9 AC stations last week, with a total of 29 AC stations playing the song. It gathered 152 spins last week. On AllAccess, another music site that monitors radio spins, it lists that right now there are 81 AC stations playing the songs. At this moment, there are no info regarding how many adds the song got for stations in other formats. (Nov 6 2002 News) On this Top of the Pops site, you can find a video clip of Celine's live performance of "Only One Road" that she did in 1995 on the program. On Nov 14th, ABC will broadcast the "Concert for World Children's Day" that was taped in September. In the concert, Celine performed "That's the way it is" and "Goodbye's (the saddest word)". Later in the evening, she joined Josh Groban singing "The Prayer". In the grand finale, all of the performers including Celine, Enrique Iglesias, Nick Carter, Josh Groban, Yolanda Adams and David Foster unites together in a rendition of the World Children's Day anthem, "Aren't they all our children", an original song written by David Foster. Few months ago, there were some media reports stated that Celine will have another TV special on CBS in the fall/winter season, and the TV special will give us a taste on how the Vegas concert will be like. And let's also hope that the next single "Goodbye's (the saddest word)" will shed some light on the album too, and can be the second ballad single to reach the top of the chart after Kelly Clarkson's "A moment like this". However, it will totally depend on whether Sony will release this single commercially, how well Top 40 radio stations will receive this song and how much hype they can build on this song such as with a very special video, live TV performances (which is quite unlikely due to Celine's rehearsal in Belgium). Releasing this song as a single is indeed a risky move under the circumstances that it's definitely not the type of songs that Top 40 radio stations like to spin nowadays. The up side that I can think of is this song could attract those ballad lovers who still haven't bought the album (which I believe there are still many) since the first two singles weren't ballads. Celine appeared on "Operazione Trionfo", an Italian reality TV program, last night. I guess the program is something like an Italian version of the "Star Academy". Anyway, Celine chatted and sang with the students by a piano, and she later also performed "I'm Alive" in the show. You can really see how professional Celine is as a singer/vocalist. (Sept 10 2002 News) On Larry King Live tomorrow, Larry will hosts a two-hour special dedicated to the anniversary of the 9-11 tragedy. Larry will be chatting with Laura Bush (US first lady), Rudy Giuliani(New York Mayor), Hilary Clinton and others. The show will also feature Cher and Celine perfoming moving tributes to the victims of Sept 11th. However, I have no idea whether Celine will be live there, or will it be a new performance. Celine will remain at #2 on this week's Billboard album chart, because according to the sales figures released by Sound Scan, Celine sold 225,6000 copies while Ashanti sold 246,000 copies. The figures that were put up here yesterday were compiled by Hits, and their sales figures are always a little bit different from the Sound Scan figures but the position are usually the same. Take last week's result as an example, Hits under-reported Celine's sales by 14,000 (248,000 vs. Soundscan's 262,000) copies and over-reported Ashanti by 1,000 copies. Billboard uses the figures released by Sound Scan instead of Hits, therefore, Hits figures are always a good source to predict the position on the upcoming Billboard album chart. Unfortunately, the sales figures are so close this week and the differences between Hits and Sound Scan do affect the position also.
