Wort Chiller Development

This page is intended to document the design and development of a counter flow wort chiller, to provide insight to others on how best to design theirs. It will hopefully not include to many pitfalls...

After a break from brewing I've decided to start again with slightly better equipment and a more adventurous attitude. From reading articles on the 'Net I came to the conclusion that a wort chiller would be a good move, but I didn't want to fork out for one (a Yorkshireman through and through). I mentioned that I might be building one to my friend Bob (I thangyew) and he turned up four or five days later with 6' of finned copper tubing. So, it's time to ask for advice, all correspondence and discussions will be reposted onto this page, I thank you all in advance.

Heat Exchanger Pipes

These are the finned copper tubes provided by my friend Bob, the specification sheet will be uploaded as soon as it's scanned. The length of the finned part of the tube is 9 5/8", the two clear ends are 1", and the diameter is ½".

All images are 640 x 480 x 16 million colour JPEGs, and approximately 65Kb in size.

Picture #2 : As above but different angle.
