I hate to disappoint? you guys, but I seriously doubt this is really Rob Liefeld. He comments on his plans for issue #20 of Cap. Granted Rob is a complete moron, but you'd think even he would know that he was only scheduled to do Cap through issue#12. I think it's pretty obvious that this is an imposter, and a pretty lousy one at that.

Yeah, unfortunately I am including the Reb Brown made-for-tv movies (which are REALLY BAD).

Actually, to defend everybody's favorite impersonating goofball here, I don't think HR was slated to end at 12 until after ol' Robby left.

And just to let you know if it was him I would of said alot worst things since he only ruined Cap. for six issues! Whose ideal was it to put the eagle on Caps head? Who has no talent as an artist? Why Robsuck. And as for Loeb I would not let him pick up my trash because I would be too afaird he would mess it up like he did Cap.

Absolute Rule: No Impersonations (413)

Posted by David Medinnus on May 09, 1997 at 09:57:19 PDT

Alvaro has a rule that nobody may impersonate anyone else on his boards (of which this is one, with me as moderator).

No more posts by "Rob Liefield"; I don't for a moment believe that you are he; and the "You Suck!" followups are a waste of bandwidth, time, energy, and Karma.

And no impersonating other real people, either. Offenders will be violated...errr...violators will be offended...err...nevermind. Y'all KNOW what I mean.

* What exactly is bandwidth???

Unfortunately, I was indeed crucified by the Red Skull. While this resulted in my death, it also resulted in the return of Cap, so in my book it's a wash. Instead of being sent to the traditional Judeo-Christian heaven or hell, I found myself in the purgatory of the internet, where I am allowed to comment on Cap issues, but not actually become involved in them.

Thoughts on Cap#8!!! (417)

Posted by The Plaid Skull on May 10, 1997 at 00:13:25 PDT

Captain America#8 was great!!!! Hey, I'm a poet but I didn't know it!!! Anyways, The Sons of the Serpents made to look like a neo-nazi, inbreeding, oakie from Nascogy(no offense to southerners) group even though the founders of the Sons was a Chinese and black guy!! Wuzup with that?!!! How do hillbillies get weapons like that?!! And didn't the Sons have uniforms? All they wore was masks!! Oh,yeah I also noticed a stereotype!! Why is it in all the southern towns that are depicted on TV and movies and comics the sherrif is fat and has a mustache and the deputy is skinny and dumb? Wuzup with that?!!! Well, it was a damn ood story and they're bound to explain how the Sons got such Star Wars like weapons!! Something tells me that the Skull is behind this somehow!!

What is the AML? In truth I am one of the southerners that Plaid
Skull makes fun of. That's why I wanted the background check on him.
Now my character, Batroc, was considered Cap's equal In TOS #76,
but since then I have become somewhat of a joke. I do build up the
Captain's self esteem because he has beat the hell out of me a zillion
times,,for that is the way of Honor the way of BATROC the Leaper....

CAPTAIN AMERICA # 8 - just shows you how much we need Waid and Garney to save the day ........ (419)

Dear Readers,

Read Captain America # 8 ? I guess the story was okay, but
both artists kind of got to me . The art was much too cartoony .
Although it was nice to see Cap wearing his shield on his back,
and finally getting his "A" on his head, it still didn't make up for
the art . For instance, check out the first, and the worst, artist
of the issue : Sandra .
She draws Steve feminime ! Distgusting !

We need Waid and Garney more than ever to save the day
now . Cap is in SERIOUS trouble now ! We must warn everybody
now !

WAID ! GARNEY ! WE NEED YOU ! AHHHHHH !

We never agree! I liked Cap #8. The art could have been better and
I agree the Serpents did have full uniforms (maybe they spent all of
their funds on hardware). But I liked the premise and story and he
ditched Bucky Ann. I'm just know reading Grisham's THE CHAMBER. With
Cap, TURNER DIARIES, and T. McVeigh, I am overloaded w/racism.**Batro

The size of that thing (421)

Posted by BATROC on May 11, 1997 at 06:56:27 PDT

Cap's indestructable shield has morphed into different sizes in his
career. I guess it was the Pym particles. Somethimes it's as big
as his upper body. Sometimes it's the size of a trash can lid.
Stick with me guys. It would fit on his back under his police
man's uniform or his street clothes. He was kidnapped by two
acquaintances drug and bound to a chair in Cap #158 and no one
noticed the indestructable buldge in his back. Before this time, he
carried it in an artist's portfolio (early Avengers).
I've been mired in sarcasm on the Avengers board about the size
of Thor's hammer. BUT, Kurt, Mark, (anyone but Liefield) what are
the dimensions on that whirling disk?

Cap was created by Joe Simon & Jack Kirby, if that's what you meant. Stan Lee was only a teenager at the time. I think Marvel ought to have a little caption crediting Simon & Kirby the same way DC credits Superman to Siegel & Shuster, etc. I understand that a Variety ad a few years back made the same error of crediting the creation of Cap to Stan Lee. So maybe Marvel ought to give regular recognition to Simon & Kirby.

Skull, you treacherous, ruthless...(Hey, that is how you
describe yourself). My post on Cap #8 without my
trademark signature merely tried to say that racism seems
to be a very contemporary issue at present with the McVeigh
trial et, al. Now, Winghead tackles the Sons of the Serpent
in Texas. Try not to cast me as Mark Fuhrman. Try to cast
me as a man full of honor. For THAT is the way of BATROC
the Leaper.

The Real Captain America....IMHO (431)

Posted by The Patriot on May 11, 1997 at 22:39:20 PDT

I started collecting Captain America comics back in 1978. I didnt always think the artists or the stories were the greatest, butin many ways the way Cap's persona was presented, never changed. The best stories in my opinion were done by Roger Stern/John Byrne and of course Waid and Garney. What a shame I thought it was when I heard that Rob Liefeld would take over. Waid and Garney really brought some class to Cap and I miss them. I picked up the first couple of issues of Rob Liefeld's books and almost yaked. Really he is a good artist, but does this guy know how to write??? Things happened with no explanation, Cap was in the space of a few scenes a great fighter and then a wimp to be beat up on by anyone. I thought the clincher was in the first issue where Steve Rogers used his shield to slice through some guy with the blood squirting. This ain't Cap. Liefeld is so used to the violence over at Image that it spilled over here. Eh...I'm rambling now....but in closing....GIVE US A REAL WRITER WHO RESPECTS CAP....

>Man you just stated what most people around the world think! I too have been reading Captain America since 1976 and miss the old classic style of writing and drawing that Cap. needs.

And to let you know are prayers have been answered Mark Waid and Ron Garney both will be returning to work on Cap. in about 4 more months. See this just proves that there is a God.

From everything that I've read and seen the shield is supposed to be two and a half feet in diameter. Which is a very functional size for a round shield. Though I personally prefer a heater.

The AML is the Avengers Mailing List. For some reason it wouldn't allow me to post a reply to your original post about this.

Dear Stryker,

I deleted the entire thread begun by the post by "Liefield".

I also delete things which are over three weeks old so that the board doesn't get too unwieldy.

I would also prefer to discuss any problems you might have with the way I run the board in private, not public; public scrutiny doesn't bother me (for any number of reasons).

Thanx.

Alvaro, it is true. It is so true that is already for sale in American Entertainment Catalog #93. It turns out that Liefeld's comic is his revenge! Leifeld isn't getting mad... he's getting even! Hey, wouldn't you be pissed if you were fired after only a year's work? Well anyhow, it looks cool.

I agree he shouldn't twist the work around! It is wrong! He was pissed that he was fired... to tell you the truth, I'd of been pissed too. But that ain't a reason to copy someone else's masterpiece. Captain America was one of Marvel's original comics. No matter how hard they try, nobody can capture the stories and art of Marvel's Captain America! Even though Liefeld is a biter, the comic looks OK... but not as good as Captain America!

Where did you read that? Also a heater to a Shield? Try fighting
with only your feet. For that is the way of Honor ...the way
of Batroc the Leaper!

Boy did I word that wrong! What I meant to say is that the cease is true, but Marvel is too late. Agent America #1 is for sale in American Entertainment #93! Sorry about the way I worded it the first time!

Captain America is the example that all heores should be mesured by. Emboided in him are the true values that everyone of us should live by today. He is always willing to help out no matter what the odds. He will always be there no matter what. And he is the greatest hero of all time in my opinion. All these things make Captain America the greatest comic hero of all time.

I agree! (Although I put him at #2 behind Spidey) He is a true example for the other heroes as well as for the readers as to what we should all strive to be .....a good, decent, hardworking individual.

The Doctor (great now I said like Cap)

In Amazing 363, our beloved web-head has this to say about the Cap...

"Cap wouldn't have given his word! He'd have found another way, a perfect solution! He's a legend! But I'm just a man!"

I'm not bashing Spidey here, just giving him a big pat on the back for stating the obvious: Cap is the man.
