My
CAPTAIN AMERICA
Page

Last Updated: 13 January, 2001

This is my page devoted to the Marvel Comics hero, Captain America. Right now, this page consists primarily of the Archives of the old Captain America message board at Alvaro's board site, from 1997.

The Cap board started in April 1997, and I first learned of it (and the rest of Alvaro's boards, two of which I currently co-moderate) a couple weeks later when following a link to the board that Michael Kaiser had placed on his Captain America webpage. (I'd first learned of Michael's Cap website in late February.) The board closed down at the end of September 1997, when it was replaced by the Captain America board at The Star-Spangled Site.

Dave Medinnus had been the moderator of Alvaro's Captain America board (above) and also ran his own Captain America fan site, called "The Star-Spangled Site." In 1997, due to frustration with the arguing about Rob Liefeld on the board, Dave set up his own Cap message board at his site. That board was password protected initially, to keep out the riff-raff. When Alvaro's Cap board was closed in Sept. 1997, Dave's Cap board was the main place for Capfans to post. Alvaro re-opened his Cap board in June 1998, so for a while both boards co-existed. Traffic was boosted on Alvaro's Cap board when it also became the home of the Golden-Age Marvel posts (which had been crowding Alvaro's Avengers board). On August 16, 2000, Dave Medinnus posted on Alvaro's Cap board that he would be closing his Star-Spangled Board because Alvaro's board was busier. It was the end of an era.
