Ringette All-Stars Back in Action


The Thompson Okanagan Ringette League's Deb and Junior All-Star teams opened the 1998-99 season by playing each other, as the Debs took a 6-5 decision over the Juniors.

Eight of nine players hit the scoresheet for the Debs. Scoring came from Sarah Braddick (Vernon) with a hat trick and one assist, Michelle Parkin (Penticton) with a goal and one assist, Michelle Caban (Kelowna) with a goal and one assist, Jane Higgins (Vernon) with a goal, Sherry Higgins (Vernon), Kristina Petiteclerc (Enderby), and Jessica McLachlin (Vernon) each with two assists, and Tracey Schmidt (Vernon) with one assist. Sherri Weeks of Vernon played outstanding in goal.

Scoring for the Juniors were Samantha Richdale (Kelowna) with a two goals and one assist, Dallas Robbins (Kelowna) with a goal and two assists, Jennifer Viau (Westbank) with a goal and one assist, and Jordan Osachuck (Kelowna) with a goal. Sharing the duties in goal were Crystal Hesketh of Enderby and Marina Neville of Kelowna.

Four players were selected from the Penticton/Summerland Ringette Association. On the Deb team in Michelle Parkin and on the Junior team is Jamie Bawden, Kirsten Burnett and Ashley Kaulback.

TORL has three all-star teams this season - Deb AA (ages 16-23), Junior AA (ages 14-15) and Tween AA (ages 12-13). This year a Tween division has been added to the nationals and TORL has iced the first ever Tween AA team for the valley. All three teams will play a three game mini-tournament in Enderby later this season against the Lower Mainland teams in there division for the right to represent BC at the Canadian National Championships in Halifax.
