The Circulatory System:The circulatory system transports food, oxygen, and water to every system of the body through an intricate network of blood vessels. It consists primarily of the heart, blood vessels, and lymphatic system. The circulatory system ensures every cell in your body receives a constant supply of blood. The blood delivers nutrients and oxygen to your cells, and removes waste products and carbon dioxide -- all through tiny vessels called capillaries. The heart ensures that the blood flows constantly by pumping it through the blood vessels. Blood vessels are tubes of all different sizes that transport blood to (veins) and from (arteries) the heart. Together, the heart and blood vessels make up the circulatory system.
