My Navy years were spent on the West Coast...First year I was stationed aboard the
USS Growler (SSG-577)....homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii....until she was decommissioned....I then went aboard the
USS Catfish (SS-339)...homeported in San Diego, California...where I remained until my discharge from the Navy....
I served as an engineman aboard both subs....I must admit that I sometimes miss the comaraderie that was so much a part of life aboard the submarines...
I wouldn't exchange my years aboard the subs for anything....
I have dedicated these pages to my Father-n-Law...He was one of the greatest
people I have ever known...He wasn't just my Father-n-Law...He was my best friend...
I will miss him greatly...Thanks Bill, for always being there for me....
