MASSAGE: The Touch That Heals Both Body And Soul!

Back in the days before pain killers, heating pads and jacuzzi's, humans have treated their aches and pains the old fashioned way...with massage. When someone twisted an ankle, they rubbed it. When they had a pain in their temples, they rubbed them. And when they ate too much and their bellies ached, they rubbed it!

Touching your body where it hurts is a basic instinct, like running from danger or eating when you're hungry. And experts say that massage, no matter how simple it may seem, can be a powerful healer. Other than relaxation, they believe that it offers other benefits such as, improved blood circulation, better digestion and intestinal function, increased mobility in joints, relief from chronic pain and reduced swelling and inflammation.

DIFFERENT STROKES:

SWEDISH MASSAGE:

Uses soothing, tapping and kneading strokes to work the entire body, relieving muscle tension and loosening sore joints.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE:

A refinement of swedish massage, this targets chronic tension in muscles that lie far below the surface of your body.

REFLEXOLOGY:

Alot more than just a foot rub! Reflexologists believe that certain spots on your feet are directly linked to other body parts, including muscles, bones, organs and more.Working these spots helps the body relax, returning to it's natural balance and giving it a chance to heal. The idea is that pressure applied to the hands and feet promotes a beneficial response throughout the body, providing a break from stress.

ACUPRESSURE/SHIATZU MASSAGE:

Commonly confused with ACUPUNCTURE, this form of massage is applied with finger or hand pressure instead of needles. It's goal is to stimulate what Chinese medical practitioners call CHI.But acupressure can be more powerful than it's counterpart for relieving common complaints such as, headaches, backaches, sinus pain, neck pain, eyestrain and menstrual cramps. It can also reduce the pain of ulcers, help heal sports injuries, relieve insomnia, constipation and other digestive upsets.

MASSAGE FOR THE SOUL

There is nothing that feels better and more nurturing than being massaged.Although there claim to be people that do not like being touched by others, we don't know of anyone who doesn't appreciate a massage at one time or another.Whether it be skin to skin or clothes-on, everyone has their comfort zone in which they will allow someone to help heal them.

Whether it comes from a parent's gentle caress, a pat on the back, a hand shake or a good old fashioned hug....positive, human touch can be a very powerful tool in our lives.

As humans, we all have the power to heal ourselves and each other if we only let our instincts guide us.
