Philip's Family

Okay, so if I've got stuff on Diana's family, I have to have something about Philip's family too, since they are the in-laws of the Queen and then some. Thanks to a book (written in 1976, so who knows what's happened since then) I bought today, here is essentially a very brief Mountbatten family tree. I'd really appreciate any other info on them anyone can give me!

Philip's Parents: Prince Andrew of Greece. No idea when he was born or when he died. Princess Andrew of Greece, born Princess Alice of Battenburg (Philip's mother). Born on 25 February 1885. Died on 5 December 1969.

Philip's Sisters, Nieces and Nephews:

Princess Margarita of Hohenlohe-Langenburg. Born on 18 April 1905. She has (had) five children: Prince Kraft (1935), Princess Beatrice (1936), Prince George (1938) and twins Prince Ruprecht and Prince Albrecht (1944).

Princess Theodora of Baden. Born on 30 May 1906. Died on 16 October 1969. She has (had) three children: Princess Margarita (1932), Prince Maximillian (1933) and Prince Ludwig (1937).

Princess Sophie of Hanover. Born on 26 June 1914. Has (had) eight children. Five from her first marriage: Princess Christina (1933), Princess Dorothea (1934), Prince Karl (1937), Prince Rainier (1939) and Princess Clarissa (1944) and three from her second marriage: Prince Guelf (1947), Prince George (1949) and Princess Frederika (1954).

Philip's uncle, the infamous Lord Louis, or "Uncle Dickie": Earl Mountbatten of Burma. Born 25 June 1900, was murdered in late August 1979 by the IRA.

Philip's Cousins:

Lady Patricia Mountbatten. Born 14 February 1924. Married seventh Baron Brabourne on 26 October 1946. Has (had) seven children: Norton (1947), Michael (1950), Joanna (1955), Amanda (1957), Philip (1961), and twins Nicholas and Timothy (1964). I believe it was Nicholas who also died in that IRA explosion in 1979. Timothy was recently married to Isabella Norman.

Lady Pamela Mountbatten. Born 19 April 1929. Married David Hicks on 13 January 1960. Has (had) three children: Edwina (1961), Ashley (1963) and India (1967). India is married to David Flint Wood (or at least she's dating him) and they have a son named Felix Austen.

Below is a bunch of Mountbatten information given to me by my new friend Theodore. It took me quite awhle to get the info on the site (sorry Theodore!) but I have finally found the time to get it done. It's sort of a continuation of what I already have on the page, with more details.

Philip's Sisters And Their Descendants:

Margarita (1905-1981), m. Gottfried, Pr. of Hohenlohe-Langenburg (1897-1960) in 1931. They had five children: Kraft, Pr. of Hohenlohe-Langenburg (1935- ), Beatrix (1936-1997), Andreas (1938- ), Ruprecht (1944-1976) and Albrecht (1944-1992).

Kraft m. Charlotte of Croy (1938- ) in 1965. They had three children: Cecile (1967- ), Philip (1970- ) and Xenia (1972- ). Cecile m. Cyril de Commarque (1970- ) in 1998. Kraft and Charlotte were divorced in 1990. Kraft m. Irma Posepesch (1946- ) in 1992.

Beatrix did not have any children before she died.

Andreas m. Louise of Schnburg-Waldenburg (1943- ) in 1968. They had two children: Katerina (1972- ) and Tatiana (1975- ).

Ruprecht did not have any children before he died.

Albrecht m. Maria Fischer (1933- ) in 1976. They had one child: Ludwig (1976- ).

Theodora (1906-1969), m. Berthold, Mgv. of Baden (1906-1963) in 1931. They had three children: Margarita (1932- ), Max (1933- ) and Ludwig (1937- ).

Margarita m. Tomislav of Yugoslavia (1928- ) in 1957. They had two children: Nicholas (1958- ) and Katerina (1959- ). They were divorced in 1981.

Nikolas m. Ljiljana Licanin (1959- ) in 1992. They have one child, Marie (1993- ).

Katerina m. Desmond de Silva (1939- ). They have one child: Victoria (1991- ).

Max, Mgv. of Baden m. Valerie of Austria (1941- ) in 1966. They had four children: Marie Louise (1969- ), Bernhard (1970- ), Leopold (1971- ), and Michael (1976- ).

Marie Louise m. Richard Baker in 1999.

Ludwig (1937- ), m. 1967 Marianne von Auersperg (1943- ) in 1967. They had three children: Sophie (1975- ), Berthold (1976- ) and Aglae (1981- ).

Cecile (1911-1937), m. Georg of Hesse (1906-1937) in 1931. They had three children: Ludwig (1931-1937), Alexander (1931-1937) and Johanna (1936-1939). The entire family was killed in a plane crash in 1937. At least I believe it was a plane crash...

Sophie (1914- ), m. Christoph of Hesse (1901-1943) in 1930. After he died, she m. Georg Wilhelm of Hanover (1915- ) in 1946. She had eight children: Christine (1933- ); Dorothea (1934- ), Karl Adolf (1937- ), Rainer (1939- ), Clarissa (1944- ), Welf (1947-1981), Georg (1949- ) and Friederike (1954).

Christine m. 1956 Andrei of Yugoslvia (1929-1990) in 1956. They had two children: Tatiana (1957- ) and Christopher (1960-1994). They were divorced in 1962. Christine then m. Robert van Eyck (1916-1991) in 1962. They had two children: Helen (1963- ) and Mark (1966- ). They were divorced in 1986.

Tatiana (1957- ), m. 1990 Gregory Thune-Larsen (1953- ) in 1990. They had two children: Sonja (1992) and Olga (1995).

Christopher had no children before he died.

Helen m. Roderick Harman (1942- ) in 1986. They had two children: Sascha (1986) and Pascale (1989).

Mark m. Joanne Green (1961- ) in 1992.

Dorothea (1934- ), m. 1959 Friedrich of Windisch-Graetz (1917- ) in 1959. They had two children: Marina (1960) and Clarissa (1966).

Marina m. 1988 Gyula Jakabffy (1962- ) in 1988. They had two children: Reka (1988) and Sophia (1989).

Clarissa m. 1985 Eric de Waele (1962- ) in 1985. They have four children: Michel (1986- ), Alexandre (1987- ), Mathieu (1988- ) and Rubi (1994- )

Karl Adolf m. 1966 Yvonne Szapary (1944- ) in 1966. They had two children: Christoph (1969- ) and Irina (1971- ).

Irina m. Alexander, C. of Schnburg-Glauchau (1969- ) in 1999.

Rainer has not married, and has no children.

Clarissa m. Claude Derrien (1948- ) in 1971. They were divorced in 1976. Clarissa has one child, Johanna von Hessen (1980- )

Welf m. 1969 Wibke von Gunsteren (1948- ) in 1969. They had one child: Tania (1970- ). They were divorced in 1979.

Tania m. Michael Naylor-Leyland (1956- ) in 1990. They had two children: Jake Naylor-Leyland (1993- ) and Gabriel Naylor-Leyland (1996- )

Georg m. 1973 Victoria Bee (1951- ) in 1973. They had two children: Vera (1976) and Nora (1979...some sources say 1978).

Friederike m. 1979 Jerry Cyr (1951- ) in 1979. They had two children: Julia (1983) and Jean-Paul (1985).
