I had made some plans before the end of the season last year. One of my plans was to go to a nice camp for a week to hunt some place other then Vermont, that plan will be working out. Our family is very much looking forward to our trip to Breezy Acres Camps in Solon Maine. I'm also getting a license in New York State to extend my season into February as I would like as much time to work Major as it will be his first season and we will have much to learn about each other. The biggest thing I need to work on is not getting to comfortable with a few spots but to look for some new ones, You may know what I'm talking about if you have ever continued to return to a spot week after week only because the dog pointed a bird in that area at the beginning of the season. I also wanted to shot more this summer that didn’t happen. (I have two new pup to work with and that will be my excuse as far as this matter goes)
I feel that the most important aspect of this season is to give Major the most exposure to birds as possible without over working him in his first season. I will also try to give Scout some time to work in the woods as well. I still have some time before the "Last weekend in September" 'till then Major and I will be working and I'll try to get in some more shooting. Like I've said in the past, get in the woods as much as you can and don't forget to enjoy yourself.
“Trip to Maine”
This is the first of many trips to Breezy Acres Camps in Solon Maine that I will be taking. I'll not only be going back for the bird hunting, I'll be returning for the Great camps and the hospitality of the owners Dale and Edie Dunlap.
