The best player in the Kanagawa district, Maki has earned himself a great amount of respect and admirance. He is also EXTREMELY mature, as demonstrated on the episode where he, Hanamichi, and Kiyota went to see a ball game (the first ep I watched, and also one of my faves) which is one factor I really like about him. Hanamichi calls him "middle-aged guy", probably because his face makes him look like he's in his 20's...instead of 17, he got insulted too, which was really cute! But I still think he's just...so handsome :)
