By The Tribune-Review

Connellsville rallied from an 11-point deficit to defeat Waynesburg, 26-21, Tuesday night in WPIAL Class AAA team tournament.

The victory puts Connellsville (15-2) into the semifinals Thursday against No. 1 Mt. Pleasant, which defeated Trinity, 29-25.

After Waynesburg's Pat O'Donnell upset No. 1 Matt King, 3-1, in 152-pound match, Connellsville found itself looking at a 21-10 deficit. Tank Martin got the Falcons flying with a 5-3 overtime victory over Justin Smith at 160. Joey Ross followed with a 12-2 major decision victory to cut Waynesburg's lead to 21-17.

Waynesburg coach John Yates decided to give Connellsville a forfeit at 189 and send Lansfer Simpson out against the Falcons' Brian Wolfe. The move backfired as Wolfe defeated Simpson, 11-6, to seal the victory.
