A decade ago, I found a box full of old meaningless awards, certificates, etc. and couldn't figure out what to do with them. So I did the only logical thing and mounted these gems on the wall above my bed. It cracked me up to sit underneath all my paltry achievements. Middle school honor roll awards, a driver's ed certificate, and spelling bee ribbons make for good dreams.

I was woken from my reverie when a friend stopped by and was like, "What is this? Project Me?!" Admittedly, it was hokey and certainly not intended as the feeble confidence booster he was implying, but I could understand his dismay. They remained on my wall until I was forced to vacate my apartment and flee to a foreign country (I only lasted in England for three months). Who knows where they are now.

I've decided to revive Project Me in a whole new way. Maybe by recounting select day to day foibles, I will be able to discover themes and figure out why so much seems to go so wrong. Hey, it's the web at its most self-absorbed, and isn't that what the internet is all about? This is the type of thing that really irritates people who fancy themselves as deep thinkers/dreamers You know, people who take things too seriously and want everything to be meaningful. My friend used to date this guy who would say "I don't want to hear about the funny thing that happened on the bus. I want to know about you." Please. You can learn a lot from the silly and mundane.

P.S. Project Me doesn't concern itself with paragraphs and impeccable grammar (though if you ever see its confused for it's you're welcome to slap me). Rehashing takes enough out of a girl.

P.P.S. I now have a proper blog, Project Me! Part 2, that picks up where this left off. And if you'd rather hear about food, try Goodies First. I can't talk about myself all the time.
