The English call the guerilla war they have been fighting with their Irish neighbors "The Troubles." The Americans had their "Conflict Overseas." And the United Nations has had its "Police Actions." The world over, wars are being waged, people murdered, and histories destroyed all for the sake of causes hidden behind innocuous, patriotic, or theocentric names. This page is dedicated to finding a peaceful appreciation of the causes and an end to "The Troubles," everywhere.
I chose "The Troubles" as the theme for this page because of my long-time interest in the war being fought between Great Britain and Irish Nationalists. At first, I almost completely supported the Irish underdogs. Then, I started to notice what their bombs were doing to innocents all over Northern Ireland and England. I also began to realize that, after over 30 years of fighting, absolutely nothing had been accomplished by either side, and much had been forever lost.
