CHORUS LINE

Chief Sharkey made his way along the decks and corridors of submarine Seaview. He was on a mission. His khaki uniform perfect he was in a rush. The Captain would be inspecting the boat and he was in charge of making sure the boat was shipshape. Born and bred Navy he liked inspections like these, his blue eyes sparkled wishing for more snap to inspections. Walking through the corridors he started singing under his breath. "Stand Navy out to sea, fight our Battle cry. We’ll never change our course, so vicious for steer shy-y-y." He noticed the looks he got from crewman. Each time he passed suddenly the crewman had a slight smile on his face and hummed with him.

Almost to the aft missile room he continued singing. "Roll out the TNT, Anchors Aweigh, sail onto victory and sink their bones to Davy Jones, Hooray." Ending up in front of Seaman Kowalski. This would be the Captain’s last stop and was not far behind him. Checking one last time he nodded to Kowalski knowing the boat would meet the Captain’s demanding requirements.

Waiting for the Captain to appear, Kowalski started singing under his breath as he made last minute adjustments to the controls. Hot and sweaty in his denims he continued where Sharkey left off. "Anchors Away, my boys, Anchors Aweigh. Farewell to foreign shores, we sail at break of day-ay-ay-ay. Though our last night on shore, drink to the foam, until we meet once more." Captain Crane showed up looking serious in his khaki uniform and black tie. He adjusted his denim shirt and trousers and stood at attention watching Crane inspect his station, still singing under his breath. "Here’s wishing you a happy voyage home."

"Good work, Kowalski. Inform the Chief my inspection is complete," Crane smiled and turned around and headed out of the missile room.

Leaving the missile room, Crane started singing making his way to the control room. "Blue of the Mighty Deep: Gold of God’s son let these colors be till all of time be done, done, done, on seven seas we learn Navy’s stern call: Faith, Courage, Service true, with Honor, over Honor, over all."

He ended up in the control all smiles knowing his crew and boat were ready for anything.
