SUBJECT: GRABBING THE CONSUMER

Ref: The Lincoln Evening Journal of 1958-(08-08) ran an ad for the
feature film 'The Fly' stating "No one admitted alone, must sign
wavier in lobby!"
No doubt this hype helped not only to lure the consumer to purchase
more tickets but also to get them in the mood for the film.

Suggest you use the same kind of hype to market your new Voyage to
the Bottom of the Sea DVD's.

HYPE: See suggested fine print for display cases and/or boxes we'd
like to use:

Warning: May cause excessive drooling, obsessive compulsion,
accidental use of nautical/naval terminology i.e.: 'Aye aye
boss', 'Gee officer, I didn't realize I was driving at flank speed',
increased model building, fan fiction and haunting EBAY.

LEGAL RAMIFICATIONS:

Excessive drooling could be deemed a medical situation we do not
want to inflict on any of our consumers. Obsessive compulsion can
also be deemed an inflicted source of pain and suffering-have you
ever searched and/or lost an auction on EBAY?
As for nautical/naval terminology, we do not want to open up a
possible charge of misleading officers of the law.

We're sorry, but really advise something else to lure consumers to
purchase all the DVD's.

BACK TO BASICS:

How about 'Episodes are super charged with spies, bombs, aliens, and
monsters.'

MEMO

LEGAL RAMIFICATIONS:

Do you really want the CIA and other branches of the government to
deem this series a bit too realistic and a threat by giving the
consumer ideas? Bombs? Spies? (Unless this series is a spin off of
James Bond feature films-our records regarding
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea don't give any indication)

The legal department is also wary of such a generalized term
as 'alien'. Are these aliens seeking refuge or citizenship, are they
illegal or do they have green cards? Or are they simply owing
allegiance to other governing nations? Or are they aliens as in
Outer Space, which would open up a whole new can of worms as other
life forms have not been recognized by the Dept. of Immigration and
Naturalization, nor has the Civil Liberties Union made a decision on
any other worldly status as of this time.

Monsters are another matter entirely. Again, you don't specify. What
kind of monsters are they? Do they occur naturally? Are they the
result of experimentation? All pose possible 'politically incorrect'
lawsuits from equal employment opportunity violations and we would
not want to imply such.

Have you ever even seen Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea?

A bit before our time. It's about a underwater something or other
isn't it?

Enclosed find bill for dermatologist treatments for the self
inflicted pulling out of hair by my staff and myself. Also enclosed
are 110 reels of the series, as not all are remastered to DVD yet.
Do you realize Hedison ie. Captain Crane –Voyage to the Bottom of
the Sea (see 'The Fly' original feature as you mentioned in previous
memo) received more fan mail than any other actor in Fox history at
the time?

However, we are taking your recommendations under advisement and may
be simply classifying the series as Action Adventure. This is one
series that will simply have to stand on it's own.

Have just spent entire week watching 110 shows and searching the
web. Have fired legal dept. and recommend warnings as originally
planned. Now, how do I sign up for the Seaview List?
