Howdy
folks, I am Shamik Biswas,
a 45 year old Arien .I am
presently based at Mumbai.
I did
my schooling at St. Joseph's
Academy, Dehra Dun (1991
batch) and at upto the tenth at Jamnabai Narsee School,
Bombay (1989 batch).
I got
a Bachelors degree in Economics (Honours) and
Statistics from the M.S. University of
Baroda (1994 batch) and an MBA
(Mktg.) from the BK School of
Business Management ( 1996
batch),Gujarat University ,Ahmedabad. I have a PGDM in Supply Chain from IIM Udaipur and an MS from Purdue university
I am a
fun-loving guy with a good sense of humour and would love
to exchange e-mail or meet up with my batchmates/old friends.
I love reading….Forsyth, Ludlum, Uris and the rest. I am also a
Sherlock Holmes aficionado
I also collect stamps, coins and am deeply interested in
international affairs.
Of course, I relax by surfing the net.
I am currently working with TechnoSatComm, a pioneer in WifI
on trains. I also consulted for a few years
for companies like Lumata for Digicel , Papua New Guinea and for Relayware for Jio. I
have also worked with Glo Mobile Nigeria as GM and Head Marketing for 3G and
BlackBerry. Before that I worked with Reliance for 6 years as DGM and Head
Devices, and Product marketing. Before that I headed Business Planning for
Reliance's VAS and data division. Before Reliance I had a stint with Tata
Teleservices not at the national headquarters and at Gujarat circle. I worked
as a Product Manager at Wipro Infotech at Bangalore between
2000-2002. It was a national ISP license holder .I joined Wipro in June 2000 .I
was earlier working at Essar Commvision Ltd. , a joint venture between Essar Telecom and HFCL ,and was in the Market
Planning and product development department .My company is the basic telephony
services licensee for Punjab and also holds an ISP license. It operates under
the brand name Connect.
I joined ECL in 1997.Was on deputation to the business planning,
coordination and MIS department of Essar Steel, for a year and was based at the
corporate office in Hazira (Near Surat).
Rejoined the telecom operations in February 2000.
I started my career in Koshika Telecom (Ushafone Cellular Services) at UP
West cellular circle and am one of the pioneers in cellular services in the
regions in India. I had established Ushafone's sales
and distribution network of franchisees, dealers and retailers in India's wild
west - Ghaziabad, Muzzafarnagar and Meerut districts
of UP West. After having got my spurs in sales, I joined Essar Telecom.
Well, as you can see, I have a lot of project experience and have
the unique distinction of having worked in a start up cellular telephony, a
start up basic telephony a enhanced fax and email
service provider and also an ISP start up firm.
