~The
Rainbow
Bridge~~There is a bridge connecting heaven and earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills, and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and the frail animals become young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play together all day. There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on earth.
So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches! The ears go up! And this one suddenly runs from the group. You have been seen! And when you and your special friend meet, you take her in your arms and embrace! Your face is kissed again and again and again! You look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together into Heaven, never to be separated again!
~Last Night
I stood by your bed last night,I came to have a peep. I could see that you were crying,You found it hard to sleep. I whimpered to you softly as you brushed away a tear, "It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here." I was close to you at breakfast,I watched you pour the tea, You were thinking of the many times, you had passed the plate to me. I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore. I longed to take your parcels,I wish I could do more. I was with you at my grave today,You tend it with such care. I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there. I walked with you towards the house,as you fumbled for your key. I gently put my paw on you,I whined and said " It's me." You looked so tired, and sank into a chair. I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there. It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday, to say to you with certainty,"I never went away." You sat there very quietly, then smiled,I think you knew in the stillness of that evening,I was very close to you. The day is over and as you climb the stairs I smile and watch you yawning and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide, I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side. I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see. Be patient, live your journey out then come home to be with me.

~OLD DOG IN A LOCKET~
Old dog in a locket
That lies next to my heart
I will always love you
As I did right from the start.
You were right beside me
Through the darkest of my days
It was your kind and gentle nature
That made me want to stay.
Now I hold you in my arms
Your breath still warm against my hand
Our hearts still beat together
And I wonder if you understand.
Through the hours that I held you
Before the light did leave your soul
I knew a way to keep you
Forever in my hold.
I snipped the hair from around your eyes So I would always see
The beauty that surrounds me
Even in times of need.
I snipped the hair from around your ears So I would always hear
Music in the distance
To quiet any fears.
I snipped the hair from across your back To bring me strength in time of need
And the power of your essence
Would always be with me.
I snipped the hair from around your heart That beat in time with mine
So I would know that love would find me
At some distant time.
And so, your life slipped out of mine
On a quiet spring like day
But I knew that a part of you
Was always here to stay.
Old dog in a locket
That lays next to my heart
I will always love you
Even though we had to part.
~If I Can
Endure~ If I can endure for this minute
whatever is happening to me
No matter how heavy my heart is
or how dark the moment might be...
If I can but keep on believing what
I know in my heart to be true,
That darkness will fade with morning
and that this will pass away, too...
Then nothing can ever disturb me
or fill me with uncertain fear,
For as sure as night brings dawning,
my morning is bound to appear...
~Heaven's Gate
An old man and his Dog were walking down a dirt road with fences on both sides, when they came to a gate in the fence and looked in. It was nice and grassy with woody areas, just what a "huntin' Dog and his man" would like, but it had a sign saying 'no trespassing' so they walked on. They came to a beautiful gate where a person in white robes was standing. "Welcome to Heaven" he said. The old man was very happy and started in with his Dog following him. The gatekeeper stopped him. "Dogs aren't allowed. I'm sorry but he can't come with you". "What kind of Heaven won't allow Dogs? If he can't come in, then I will stay out with him. He's been my faithful companion all of his life, and I can't desert him now."
"Suit yourself, but I have to warn you, the Devil's on this road and he'll try to sweet talk you into his area, he'll promise you anything, but the Dog can't go there either. If you won't leave the Dog, you'll spend Eternity on this road."
There was no way the old man was going to leave the Dog, so he and the Dog walked on. They came to a rundown fence with a gap in it, no gate, just a hole. Another old man was inside.
"S'cuse me, Sir, my Dog and I are getting mighty tired and thirsty, would you mind if we come in and sit in the shade for a while?" "Of course, there's some cold water under that tree over there. Make yourselves comfortable."
"You're sure my Dog can come in? The man down the road said Dogs weren't allowed anywhere."
"Would you come in if you had to leave the Dog?" asked the latest gentleman.
"No sir, that's shy I didn't go to Heaven, he said the Dog couldn't come in. We'll be spending Eternity on this road, and a glass of cold water and some shade would be mighty fine right about now. But, I won't come in if my buddy here can't come too, and that's final." The man smiled a big smile and said, "Welcome to Heaven." "You mean this is HEAVEN? Dogs ARE allowed? How come that fellow down the toad said they weren't?"
"That was the Devil and he gets all the people who are willing to give up a life long companion for a comfortable place to stay. They soon find out their mistake, but then it's too late. The Dogs come here; the fickle people stay there. GOD wouldn't allow Dogs to be banned from Heaven. After all, HE created them to be man's companions in life, why would he separate them in death?"
