The following is taken from "PIONEER TALES"

A history of Pennngton County.

1976, by The Pennington County Historical Society. Thief River Falls, Mn

HOMME, OLE O. AND THORI (ROYSLAND)

My father was born in Valle, Norway in 1870 and came to this country in 1890. He came to Thompson, No. Dak., as he had a sister living there. He worked on large grain farms there for several years. My mother, Thori ROYSLAND was born in Valle, Norway in 1880 and came to this country in 1903. She also had cousins and other relatives living near Thompson, No. Dak. She worked on a big farm near Thompson and met my father there.

When land became available east of Thief River Falls, my father left Thompson and homesteaded a quarter of land in 1904. He cleared some land and built a one room home. Then he went back to Grand Forks where he and my mother married in Nov. 1905. They lived all their life on the same farm where we were members of Bethany Church.

Their nine children were born on the farm. My father died in 1937 and my mother in 1943. A son Theodore and a daughter Anna died in their twenties. We are seven children left. Thelma BRAZIL of Santa Cruz, Cailfornia; Ole of Kennwick, Washington; Clarence of Fairbanks, Alaska; "Living" of Reno, Nevada; Thora CEDERHOLM of Thief River Falls, Minnesota and Obert and "Living" of Thief River Falls. Obert bought the homeplace and is living on it with his family.
