Converstaion

By: Angel

Half a mile of copper wire
separates us, yet brings us
this close
in protective anonymity
and privacy from each other
that fearful reserve.
But when I see you soon
I know we'll regret
the impulse to confide.
Our faces will be closed
and our speech awkward,
but that will end it time.
The first time we talk this way
face to face
without fears of our vulnerability.
Then we'll have something
even more precious
than this first honest conversation
with the armor
of half a mile of copper wire
between us.
