You knew it had to come! No way to leave this
place without my 2 cents worth. But I promise
these ponderings will be relatively painless.
Some I have read or heard in passing, and some
were passed down to me throughout my life by
family members, whether intentional or not.
You see, I don't really live in a shack on the
bayou in Louisiana. We live in a very fast
growing Southern city. We even have four,
Riverboat Gambling Casinos on the banks of the
Red River which seperates Shreveport and Bossier
City. But in my "cyberhome" you have had a
glimpse of the seeds from my roots. Roots buried
deep in a culture that has sustained me thru hard
times, hard knocks, heartaches, and the never-
ending pain of the loss of many who shared it
with me. Many consider the people from the South
to be slow. We choose to call it "thinking it thru."
The women of the South aren't known as
"steel magnolias" just by chance...
From Grandpa.."Never met a fool that didn't have a
tongue long enough to cut his own throat."
From Aunt Lillian.."The only thing worse than being
on the wrong side of an argument is to be in the middle
of it."
From Mother.."You can hear anything and everything...
except the meat a-frying."
From PawPaw Coleman on wearing his false teeth...
"Never put anything in your mouth that feels better
in your pocket!"
The trouble with many people in trying times
is they stop trying.
Only the person who isn't rowing has time to
rock the boat.
Don't worry if a rival imitates you..aslong as he is
following in your tracks he can't pass you.
The one way to forget a passing fancy is something
fancier!
Some folks get lost in thought because it's unfamiliar
territory.
