Jack Wimberly Minor
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Jack Wimberly Minor on
November 11, 1996, at the age of 38, brought a great loss to the
family and many friends of this esteemed gentleman; and
WHEREAS, A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mr. Minor was
born on April 22, 1958, and spent his formative years in Houston;
he went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Sam Houston State
University in Huntsville before moving to the Capitol City; and
WHEREAS, An accomplished photographer, Mr. Minor worked for
the Texas House of Representatives in that capacity for 15 years,
photographing legislators on the House floor over the course of 27
regular and special legislative sessions; during that time he
collected thousands of images in and around the State Capitol, and
each Fourth of July he could be found capturing the magnificence of
this historic building as fireworks filled the night sky; and
WHEREAS, This commendable individual's contributions to the
House photography department helped to raise it to a higher level,
and as House photography manager, he set a standard of excellence
that earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Music also played an important role in defining
Mr. Minor's life, and his love for collecting and sharing
recordings was an integral part of his being; his impressive body
of work stands as a reminder of his creativity and talent, and this
collection has surely proved a comfort to his loved ones in this
sad time and will no doubt provide his children with a cherished
heirloom; and
WHEREAS, Jack Minor was a man of great compassion and
devotion who loved his wife and children without limit, and
although his time with us was far too brief, his many contributions
to his family, friends, and indeed the citizens of Texas have truly
made this state a better place; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jack Wimberly Minor
and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
wife, Monica Minor; to his sons, Jack Edward Minor and Garrett
Stephen Minor; to his daughter, Maria Dolores Minor; to his
parents, Jack and Dolores Minor; to his brother, Paul Minor; to his
grandmother, Martha Wimberly; and to the many other relatives and
friends of this fine man; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
Jack Wimberly Minor.
