Alessandro Del Piero was the wonder kid during last season for his home team Juventus Turin. So much so, that Coach Cesare Maldini seen above with the youngster, never lost faith in his ability, starting him in place of the favored Baggio. Del Piero never lived up to the expectations put on him from his Coach, his teammates, his countrymen and millions of soccer fans worldwide.

Del Piero should provide a jolt to the Italian offense in years to come. He is only 23 years old and will only get better. Many critisized the Coach's decision to stay with him as forward and as it turned out he was a bitter disappointment and Coach Maldini was let go the 3rd week of July. However, just recall an international game in September of 97 against Brazil in which they tied 3 to 3 he was awsome.
