QUAIL
Parts of the quail are used in amulets or potions to bring illusion or hallucination. "Dissolve the eyes of the Quail...with a little water in a Glass-Vessel for seven days, then add a little Oyl: Put a little of this in the Candle, or only anoint a Rag, and light it among the Company, and they will look upon themselves like Devils on Fire, so that every one will run away." The quail is sometimes sacrificed to the Devil.
