Is Mike Like Luis?

Which One Has Really Won Your Heart? His D2/D3 Charatcter, Or The Real Mike?

Sooo...you can't stop thinkning about Mike Vitar, who, as "Luis Mendoza" in D2 and D3: The MIghty Ducks breaks hearts just as easily as he scores goals. You imagine yourself in the stands watching Mike play hockey, cheering him on as he takes another slap shot...but wait a sec! Is it Mike or "Luis" You've fallen for?

He's high on hockey

Actually, there are quite a few things that Mike and "Luis" share - and number one on that list is a love of hockey! In fact, after perfecting his skating skills at a hockey camp, after all Luis is the fastest skater on the ice, Mike found he had a real talent for the game. By the way, the man who ran the the camp was Jack White. Jack was a referee in D2 and Varsity Coach Wilson in D3. Before D2, Mike had only played street hockey, but now he plays for the Valley Bulldogs, an ice hockey team in his home town in the San Fernando Valley. "Hockey was really tough at first, because you have to build up your endurance," says Mike. "But with practice it's really, really fun!"

An eye for girls
In D2: The Mighty Ducks, suave "Luis" sets his eyes on adorable "Connie" and immediately tries to steal her from "Guy," played by Garette Ratliff Henson. In real life, Mike and Margurite Moreau -- who plays "Connie" did become close buds on the set. But would Mike do battle to steal another guy's girlfriend? Well maybe -- but not if the other guy was a close pal. "It's important to be loyal to your friends," Mike feels. Still, someone like "Connie" might appeal to Mike as well as to "Luis," - he likes girls who are athletic, funny, and smart.

He's Like "Luis" and a lot more!

Mike admits that there is a lot of himself in "Luis," but as he says, "that's probably true for any actor." Off screen, Mike is much more of a practical joker than his Ducks alter-ego. He's also much more concearned about the world around him -- in fact, he hopes to work with young people to keep them out of gangs.

There's a lot more to Mike than meets the eye, and it might take a lot of late-night chats to get all the info -- but OK! There's nothing Mike likes more than long talks on dates. "I like hearing what other people have to say about things," he says. "I like to learn about other people. It's cool."
